Nice Start to a New Series
I like reading about the "frowned upon" love matches as opposed to forbidden love stories. By frowned upon I'm referring to best friend's brother, little bother's best friend, and Dad's best friend. In this first book in the Blackwater Pack series the story focuses on an Omega attracted to his best friend's older brother. Actually the attraction becomes mutual after the Alpha realizes that Omega has grown up while he was away at college. But still he hesitates. He's always considered the Omega his "kid" brother and it felt odd looking at him in a different light. Until the forbidden dance showed him the Omega was no "kid".But the Alpha had an even bigger hang up - his dangerous job. He'd seen the effect on his Omega Dad from worrying about his Father in whose footsteps he'd followed. Worrying if he'd come home each time he left home was not something he ever wanted to subject a significant other too. This caused some major problems with him ever past moving past causal hookups. When his younger brother's friend returned to Blackwater something changed. No matter how much he fought it though he couldn't deny his attraction. He was determined not to hurt someone because of his job. To bad that plan didn't work out.Something I noticed what I thought was odd in that it seemed at times that maybe there had been a prequel to this first story. Situations were spoke about as if the reader should be aware of what was going on. It was a bit disconcerting,

Good read.
Good read. There are some plot points that don't match up with the first book of the series that make it a little difficult to get through. Otherwise it was a great book.

Repetitious drudgery
Owen is very protective of Lukas, his best friend’s little brother. As we’re informed of over and over and over in the first 1/3 of the book. In fact, he’s so protective that he literally has not a single other thought in his brain. He ruminates on how protective he is toward Lukas ad nauseum. Did I mention he likes to protect Lukas? Definitely not as often as the book mentions it because that would be a physical impossibility. Sigh. Well, if repetitious overprotective and uninteresting plot development is your thing, this book is for you. If you prefer substance, give it a miss. DO NOT recommend.

Claimed By My Protector
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Blackwater Pack series. In this book, Lukas returns to town after being away at university and takes over teaching when his best friend Austin leaves to work with his mate, Ryker. Lukas is Austin's best friend and grew up together with him and Austin's older brother Owen. Owen always protected Austin and Lukas, and Lukas always had a crush on Owen. Lukas wanted to show Owen he grew up and is now a man and he wants to be with Owen. Owen is now a police officer and he takes his job as a protector very seriously. Owen likes Lukas, but he always thought of him like a little brother. When Owen's friend mention Lukas's crush on Owen one night they were all out together, Owen doesn't think it is true. But Owen pays attention to Lukas and realizes something is different. Lukas knows Owen's routine and decides to be at the diner he goes to. Owen sits next to Lukas and Lukas starts to flirt with Owen. This game goes on for couple of weeks, until the night of the full moon and they meet at the pack run. Owen spends time with Lukas until Lukas goes into heat and Owen knows he has to get him out of there before all of the alphas notice. Owen takes Lukas to his home and gives into his attraction for Lukas. Things go very well and they realize they are fated mates, but Owen doesn't want a mate because of the danger of his job and he breaks Lukas's heart. I liked this book, i liked Lukas and thought he was a very good guy. He loved Owen, but he also wasn't willing to be treated badly. Owen had his fears and i think he needed to talk about them to find a way to get past them. I like this series and look forward to the next book.

redz world reviews
voluntary review of arcClaimed by My Protector by author Liam Kingsley is a fantastic read. I loved the emotional connect and the love these men have for each other. This is the second book in the Blackwater Pack, I have not read the first book in this series and I was not lost at all.Owen has always protected Lukas even when they were kids. Lukas was Owen’s little brother’s best friend, but Owen always felt connected to him. Owen is a police officer now a job that allows his protective instincts to shine. He is Alpha, kind and gentle, but strong when needed.Lukas is coming back to his hometown after being away. He is a teacher. He is an Omega. He has always thought of Owen. He is the special person who has always allowed him to be his own person cause he knows Owen will have his back. Now thought that has blossomed into something more. He wants Owen to see him as an equal, a mate for life.I love how each of these men grows in this book. They have their own hang-ups to get over and they do it with grace and style. I personally would love to read more about Owen’s family and the mates they will have in the future. I loved this story and did not want it to end. Five Shooting Stars
