This is an incredible story of greed, bad people, and great food! - Thank you to former CIA officer, Carmen Amato for creating the Emilia Cruz series! This edition, Russian Mojito is nothing short of amazing! Written with incredible detail, Carmen’s ability to set the scene with so much authenticity is second to none! I can’t wait for the next one! Review: Another success! - Carmen Amato's Emilia Cruz series is just so spot-on to contemporary Mexico that each novel is a discovery. Emilia evolves into a mature detective in a macho society dominated by violence and corruption as each story line (captured from contemporary Mexican events) brings the reader to a better understanding of the challenges faced by our southern neighbor. This series is fascinating and gripping and well worth a reader's time and commitment; you won't be disappointed.

Excellent detective series provides a window on a culture with a female detective in Mexico.
Well-written. The lead character has issues at home with a mentally ill mother and at work with the men who view her as an incompetent intruder into their world. You feel her frustration at home, her distrust of some colleagues, and her fear when she is in danger, sometimes by the very men she works with. Good detective stories and an interesting setting.

Whew.....What a book!!
Loved the action of the story and the fact that Detective Kruz is a woman among men! She keeps up with them and surpasses them. Full of suspense, terror and love. Carmen Amato really knows how to hold one's attention. Once I started this action packed story.... could not put it down! You will not be bored reading this one!!

The Emilia Cruz adventure never slows down!
This series continues to provide non stop action. Emilia simply rolls from one unbelievably bad situation straight into another. Her desire to overcome adversity and find truth keeps her strong and steadfast against all odds. This is one amazing series. I have raced through all seven episodes and all the extras by Carmen. Can’t get enough! Again, we’ll done!

Good murder mystery.
It has a good steady pace. Has like able characters, nice setting. Twists and turns and always surprises . Carmen always has original feel to the mystery’s. This was a better mystery with not so much of Emilia’s past being continuously brought up.

Another bravura book, and the story of the series deepens
Russian Mojito, like the six that precede it, is well plotted, has exciting action, and features compelling characters and mysteries. It also has a lot to about Mexico and Acapulco. As impressive as each individual tale, though, is the larger mystery-detective story that is unfolding across the series. I’m looking forward to the release of the next one!

Absolutely loved this book!
Acapulco detective Emilia Cruz returns from Mexico City and is given a six-week medical leave to recover from her traumatic experience. Life seems to have other plans. Her stepfather, the simple knife sharpener Ernesto, is kidnapped by a vicious gang and held for a two million dollar ransom. Pressure mounts as the kidnappers send videos, the police negotiation team appears to be worthless, Russian gangsters are tearing up the place, Emilia's former partner Silvio gets promoted to Lieutenant and now heads up her division, and Kurt Rucker, Emilia's on again off again boyfriend is called back to London Headquarters. It's nonstop action and a great read. I love this series!

I can't get enough of this fantastic series!
Packed within the pages of a police procedural detective story you'll get great characters, plot lines that twist and turn, Mexican history, politics, Mexican words and phrases, all wrapped with a great conclusion ... and just enough loose threads and unfinished business to be realistic. Every character has a purpose that drives the story forwards, and every book in the series is a deep dive into a city that appeals and appals in equal measure.
