Shock DoctorGel Nano Convertible Mouthguard (Pearl Carbon, Youth)

First of all if we are just comparing this vs. all others for the price it should be 5 stars. I only rated 4 because there are REALLY high priced ones that are slightly better. I rarely get hit in sparring, but I had someone go off on me unexpectedly the other day and just start to swing wild, and hard. I took about 5 head shots in a row with no headgear (as I usually don't get hit I don't use headgear). The punches landed unusually clean because this sparring partner has never attacked me like a real fight before and I was not expecting it. I recovered and did just fine ;) but I felt the shock absorption and was happy to have it. Prior, I had not really taken more than one clean punch at a time so it had not been tested. After taking those shots and feeling completely unhurt I literally thanked my mouth guard in my mind and went and landed a body shot that ended the issue. All said, if I had been using a lesser guard my teeth might have been damaged. Fortunately this is as solid as they come, and re-mold-able if you wear it out a bit. Long lasting and solid protection for minimal price. Best one i have used.

Bought one of these for my Krav Maga classes. I went for the youth size because I'm short and even the smallest adult size was a bit too large and bulky for me.I have a strong gag reflex and hate putting objects in my mouth (and that's what she said ;), even though a mouthguard is a necessity during sparring sessions. That being said, I've found this mouthguard to be fairly comfortable and unobtrusive. It was pretty easy to fit (boil and bite) and cleans up well with ordinary dish soap and water.I will probably buy another one down the road when this one gets worn out.

I bought this mouthguard for practicing bjj, choosing it because of its positive reviews, for I never used a mouthguard before. I tried the fitting process (boil & bite) twice, but that did not help the discomfort I felt while wearing the mouthguard. I felt lots of pinching and that only the edges of my front teeth were in the guard. It seemed that there was not enough gel in front. In addition, after a few practice sessions I believe this mouthguard made my front teeth loosen a bit. In all fairness, I must say that this mouthguard may be good for someone with a certain shape of jaw or shorter front teeth perhaps. It just did not work out for me. In any case, because I did not feel protected and felt uncomfortable wearing the guard, I returned it and went with a custom fit one.

Had one of these before and it fit better. Seems a little crowded this time. Still effective - but not perfect.

It's a shock doctor. They tend to be super thick up front. I've got big teeth so the effect is magnified. The real problem is that the child size and adult size decal is the same. The picture shows a child size guard. On the adult size the teeth decal end up being 1/4 size. The effect is less ferocious than hilarious. When my wife finished laughing and caught her breath she started making mocking cat noises. Probably won't wear this around the team.

After making the change from a basic mouth guard to a Shock Doctor mouth guard, my only regret is not doing so much sooner. Forms tightly to teeth and gums, and is good for all game comfort. If I purchase again, I will get a lower profile mouth guard as the plastic exoskeleton is slightly bulky in the front with the tether point which only hinders communication until you really get used to it. otherwise, there was never any discomfort for me running around all day on the rugby pitch.

I've tried the Tapout brand for my kids and it cannot stand up to the abuse that this one does in comparison. The gel does its job perfectly in that regard and after a few months it's still in pretty good shape. I can't say much for protection (who can really unless they have scientific numbers?), but I am happy this can last longer than a season now.

Easy to fit and comfortable to wear. Absorbs impact and fits the entire row of teeth unlike other mouth guards I’ve tried that leave the back molars exposed.

I ordered two mouthguards from Shock Doctor.I went through the fitting process on the first one.It fitted fine (although not on the first try).I could not get the second one to fit.Those are not my first mouthguards, but those will be my last shock doctor mouthguards

For me in particular having to ware a mouth guard is not a nice experience. They are never comfortable, Always smelly and they make me gag. On top of all this despite putting them in boiling water over and over again they never seem to mould to fit my mouth. However this mouth guard is totally different it is well sized and fits both me and my dad. It comes with its own case so it can be kept form coming into contact with the bottom of my bag and stops it form being all dirty and smelly. As well as this the gel on both top and bottom of the mouth guard allows it to fit perfectly. furthermore the mouth guard goes further and has a hole in it which makes it easier to breath with it when you are out of breath. Inconclusion this mouth guard is the best I have had and though it is generally more expensive that most mouth guards it is definitely worth it.

Very good stuff, It fits perfectly, worked the first time. :D do as the instructions say and it will be fine. Very resistant as well. Worth the money, works when you have retainers!!!

Good product but a bit stiff on the first use.

Good gum shields and fit a treat when fitted to the instructions.
