Easy to set the barrel up the plants were not
It's a lovely little garden feature, but the plants were not as easy to deal with as it lead me to believe. The basket was massive and took up all the room. I finally solved the problem by putting each plant in their own pot, put a few pebbles on top to stop the soil floating everywhere. Finished it off with a solar fountain that stays in place with 4 straws that came with it. Each plant has enough room to grow without getting tangled in the fountain. Added some elodea to help keep the water clear.Put some old garden odds and ends around it to cover the large flagstone it's sat on.It will do for now till my I have the energy to sort my odds and ends out properly. All in all very happy with it, it's a waiting game now to see how the plants go.Additional feedback, plants still going ok, the lilly is bit sorry for its self but others are ok.Added 6 little White Clouds on thursday and they are still here today. Got a little pump and filter even though I was told I won't need one.so it's all good apart from the reduction in price of the kit. But hey ho.

Great product but make sure you buy additional items
The bucket is sturdy and the plants arrived in good condition. A good amount of soil was also provided. It was really quick to get up and running. However I've had for 3 weeks now and completely covered in blanket weed and a thin coating of soil.Make sure that you layer the basket with hessian to avoid soil from leeching into the water, and also have pond gravel on top.You will also need some stones/bricks for the basket to sit on, as otherwise it may be too deep. Also invest in oxygenating plants to drop into the water and a fountain or aerator to keep the water moving and stop the algae. But a great starter kit and I'm pleased with everything I've received.

This is lovely!
I read all reviews carefully and bought hessian, solar fountain and light coloured pond gravel.Arrived beautifully packaged, but still no suggestions of how to assemble.I know lily's like still water so put one plant in each corner of the basket. Put gravel on bottom of barrel and on top of basket. In time plants will be too big but that will take time. They are all healthy and s good size.Took about an hour to assemble and even with cloud the fountain is working on and off.Absolutely love it. Wish they did one bigger to house one fish. But delighted with it as a garden pond is beyond my budget.

Good value for money
As other people have reported, there is little information on how to set it up. However, there is an excellent video on YouTube and I will follow those instructions. You’ll need some hessian to keep the soil in the baskets and some pond gravel on top. The plants are from Lincolnshire Pond plants and I’ve found them to be very good in the past. I’ve also bought a little solar fountain to keep the water moving. I will add some oxygenating weed from our big pond and some water snails. After all this rain, I’ve collected plenty of rainwater to fill it up. I will add a small amount from our pond to add some pondlife. I really hope we will get frogs and newts using it in the spring. It’s a nice and easy project to encourage more wildlife into the garden.

Lily plant
Would have liked more than 1 Lily plant as they are so delicate some of the stems have broke off leaving me with only 2 leafs.

A worthy mini pond
The media could not be loaded. I don't have space for a large pond in my garden and wouldn't be allowed to dig one anyway (rented accommodation) so this is the ideal and most perfect addition. The kit arrives with everything supplied and mine arrived with 4 plants, rather than 3 as some reviews have stated that the plants aren't viable, so they've supplied a bonus just incase. All 4 of mine seem to be adapting. I've added an underwater pond light, dragonfly decorations, mermaid and a mini fountain (not supplied, so purchased separately) and I just love it.As other reviews state, I would recommend lining the supplied basket with hessian to stop the escape of the soil, then top with gravel to hold the soil in.

Don't waste your money!
As per other reviewers, I've had an issue with a dud Waterlily. The seller isn't interested in replacing it and keeps requesting more and more details and photo's, which I've sent over. Now wants me to pull the whole planter back out again, just to see if the lily corm is soft or hard. It's dead!! Does it matter if it's soft or hard? It took ages for the water to clear and settle down in the first place, so I really shouldn't have to pull it all out again, to squeeze a waterlily bulb to see if it's soft or hard. There should have been some leaves coming up off the waterlily by now and there isn't because it's dead. This pond kit is an over-priced piece of rubbish. The "barrel" itself is a thin plastic, which you will have to be very careful with and I'm not convinced will withstand the Winter and ice, however time will tell on that. The plants themselves don't arrive in the best condition, as other buyers have mentioned. However, apart from the dead Waterlily, the other greenery plants seem to have recovered a bit now at least.I wish I'd read all the bad reviews on this, before I bought it. I'd have bought a proper wooden half barrel and the plants separately.
