Coleman533-5891 for 533-533A Sportster DF Stove

My Feather 442 is only 30+ years old and I've only used unleaded gasoline in it. Perhaps that wasn't the best choice but it has lasted this long, including several years in storage.I pulled it out the other day and it worked reasonably well, but not perfectly. After a second usage it just died. The unit would pressurize but nothing came out the burner. Pretty classic symptom. Taking the original generator off revealed it was quite clogged.This replacement generator worked perfectly - after fitting it properly. It is made from a thin-walled brass tube that easily bends and a little adjustment was required to make it fit completely. I suspect this would be necessary regardless of the stove model.I'm keeping the original generator just for fun and will attempt to clean it to keep a spare. But right now the stove works as good as new and the flame control is awesome. Every time I think of purchasing something different I always decide to just keeping this stove. I'm happy to keep it running.

Liked the fact that my 533 is back up in business. At camp site, all of the sudden I had no gas flow. Wire tip that is in generator tube is formed into “L” shape which is inserted into flat part with hole that is part of the valve. Wire broke. So replacing generator tube and wire fixed it. Picture/description does not show wire but it is mostly internal and is included in purchase. Watch you tube video “Coleman 533 generator” to show ease of install.

Make sure it's for your model. Stove works like a charm again!!

Grossly over priced consider I only paid 60 for the stove. I purchased only because I need the stove to work now. I will belo ok king at other stoves, one that the maintenance cost is not so ridiculous...Colman, wake up this is no way to treat life long customers.

Does not throttle well or at all for simmering. This is my 3rd or 4th generator as wear and tear cause immenent failure. I've had better success in the past. This time, it's been very frustrating. At half throttle the flame stutters and eventually goes out, forcing to keep a lighter at hand and keeping the flame higher which has burned and ruined several meals in the short time I've used it. Keep a scouring pad handy to clean/scrape off burned food off your pot/pan. However, on the plus side, it boils water very fast at full throttle for hot drinks and instant oatmeal.

This replacement works well but didnt solve the problem with the stove going out on low settings on my Coleman 533. Aparently, that is just how it is with this stove...

Stove works like new!
