Perfect!
I purchased this little gem but was slightly hesitant due to the negative reviews. I set it up, paid for the subscription, and couldn’t be happier! The subscription is a very small price to pay to be able to monitor my temperature and humidity levels in my humidor from the next room or even miles away. It keeps the humidity exactly where I set it with very little effort. I have nothing but praise for this device, as it keeps my costly smokes in pristine condition for an enjoyable smoke anytime. The humidity is a little low when I took the picture because the humidor was open for a short time before I took the photo. It had kicked on to bring it up, and it hits the set point in no time! Cigar Oasis you definitely didn’t let me down! I highly recommend this humidifier!

Best humidifier I have used and they do have Tech Support!
My Excel has been in the humidor and running for two months. Humidity is exactly at 69, where I set it via the app. It was easy to connect to WiFi. I had to notch the lift out shelf to route the flat cable without risk of it pinching. It took about 5 minutes with a Dremel. Refer to the photos. A couple days ago I opened the app and it would not open. I deleted and downloaded the app again and it didn’t help. I almost gave up thinking the app was garbage. With some difficulty, I found the phone number for Cigar Oasis and called them (a bit angry) because there was no clear direction on getting support for the device. The lady who answered sent me an email with a couple questions- ios, mac #, etc. The next day I got an email from Christine who had reset my password, verified the account and told me the humidifier was not online. I wasn’t aware that the Wi-Fi connection had dropped. I pressed the Wi-Fi button and within a minute the humidifier was back online, the app opened and I again had access. So far so good! This thing works great and I am very happy with the purchase!

Reliable Humidifier for Humidors
The Cigar Oasis Excel 3.0 is a very reliable solution for keeping cigars stored properly. The LCD display and soft-touch buttons make it easy to set up and monitor, and the sensor-controlled fan keeps the humidity stable. It’s quiet, efficient, and perfect for a medium-size humidor. Knowing it’s made specifically for cigars gives peace of mind that they’ll stay fresh. A must-have for anyone with a 100–300 cigar humidor. 🌿✨

Works fine but the monthly cost may bug you.
It works fine, calibrated it and it matches other digital sensors, and I didn't have the problem with the app others reported (but didn't download the newest update because the app gets such a bad rap) yet it will still be the weakness. A selling feature from owners should be 'this works great and I can even look on an app to check in on my humidor' but instead it becomes 'and it has an app but they'll charge you to use it.' I get it, everyone wants to be the Netflix of their market and have monthly fees coming in but Netflix became Netflix giving away a lot of stuff, then they switched to streaming when they were part of people's lives. Charging people to use an app will make them wonder why they 5 aren't using a manual humidity system. Charge $100 and give the app away as a cool feature and people will recommend it because it's different than other products. My coffee cup has an app that will tell me when my coffee is at the temperature I set. It's cool, it's free, I tell people about that even thought $5 is not going to impact my life. You don't want people with money to spend to have a qualifier about your product when they speak to others. So it's a 4 rather than a 5 because one of the selling features they use is actually going to cost an extra $60 a year, and people can buy a lot of Boveda packs for that. In the pictures, you should always be aware of the size. They advertise a ribbon cable, and it is, except when it isn't, so you will either have an unsightly cable sticking out the side or you'll need to remove your humidor lid and place the cable and then screw the lid back on. Because the unit and the sponge form kind of a brick size you're also going to lose some space. Both are not big deals to me but they aren't clear in the literature.

Far Inferior to the original! A premium price should provide a premium product. This isn’t one.
I've been a Cigar Oasis user for over a decade. I have the original XL in two modest humidors - ~100-150 cigar capacity depending on the sticks. Ordered these as I was concerned my originals might be getting old. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! These are a serious downgrade to the original, and here's why: 1. The wall plug. The original plug ran the wire down, allowing tight wall clearance. This new plug is a USB cable. It sticks out the back, increasing the space needed 3x (see photo). If you have limited clearance behind your humidor you have to put a power strip on the floor. 2. The ribbon cable. The original ribbon was exactly that. This new cable has two large USB lugs. They won’t fit through the back of the humidor the way an actual ribbon does. You have to run it out the side of the humidor and it looks like crap. 3. The ribbon cable plug into the unit. Again with the kludgy USB connector. Even worse however is the placement. Instead of plugging into the BACK of the unit like the original, it plugs into the SIDE (see picture). This increases the space consumed by the unit, taking up a column of cigars and reducing humidor capacity. 4. Ribbon cable plug orientation. The plug is oriented so the cable goes *UP*, not down (see picture). This increases unit height and prevents the use of the top tray. SMH. 5. Capacity. The original CO XL units are the same size as and weight as the new ones empty, and 14 oz when full. Best I could get out of these new units was 9 oz, and one only held 5 oz. Absolute crap. 6. WiFi. You can’t just control the unit from your phone. You have to *SUBSCRIBE* to their service. The humidor only checks in every 8 hours, so it’s not exactly real time. There’s no value to the user, only to CO. There are plenty of offerings out there for under $100. For a premium price you should get a premium product. This isn’t one. CO sold the souls of our cigars for a subscription service to a vastly inferior product. I’m switching brands.

Works great; Check the fit to your humidor before buying
Before I say how well this humidifier works, I warn potential buys to be sure the unit fits in their humidor. The ribbon cable sticks up higher than top of the unit, at the place where it connects to the unit. I had to modify my humidor's top shelf, using a saw, to make it all fit. That said, I am very pleased with the functioning of the Cigar Oasis. Having an electronic device with sensors that detect humidity levels and automatically turns the unit on and off is fantastic. And simply having to refill with distilled water is what I wish I had years ago.

Great Humidifier
For me this is a replacement humidifier. I have had an Oasis for well over 10 years and it has worked great. It finally gave up the ghost and quit working so this one is just like my old one except this one has blue tooth connectivity so I can actually monitor my humidor remotely. As I recall I paid around $90 for my last one 10+ years ago so the price has not gone up much at all. It is a great buy and does a wonderful job.

Premium Cigars Properly Humidified.
I like this cigar humidifier. However I think it's way overpriced at $99.00 (worth $40 - 50.00 max in my humble opinion). My last one, the fan went out screaming making a lot of noise after some years time. This one will keep your nicer cigars properly humidified. The humidity adjustments can be a bit tricky though. There's also an expensive optional wi-fi control (i.e. also I believe controlled with a phone app) module that you can buy. I opted out of that one. It does beat an alternative of the expensive Boveda humidifier packs which can quickly dry out (good for traveling though). UPDATE: Dec. 15, 2018. Bought a second new unit for another humidor that replaced a different Oasis model. Less than 24 hrs. after setting it up in a 150 cigar humidor, the fan cycling ON and OFF every 30 - 45 secs. Like a muffled leaf blower far in the distance! Annoying. I hope after awhile this stops or abates. Otherwise, it's getting returned! Nearly for 100 bucks and this?! Come on! UPDATE 04/11/2019: So, I caved and bought a second, new and improved Cigar Oasis Excel 3.0 Wi-Fi capable unit. That's after listening to this constant louder fan racket cycling on and off on the OLDER Dec. 2018 purchased, Cigar Oasis Excel non Wi-Fi. This NEW one's much better. But I ain't paying for any smartphone subscription to control the humidity on this Excel 3.0 Wi-Fi model! Not even after a 30 day free trial! Boy, they're gonna hear me on this one! 2nd UPDATE: 4/12/19 So, I finally contacted Cigar Oasis - AGAIN. I had to let them know about these product issues I had since this purchase from in December 2018. Sure, I was made to jump through “their hoops” before they’re going to honor their one year warranty on a $100.00 malfunctioning humidifier. This later Mary in customer service put me on a lengthy phone hold. She says she’d see if she could get her manager to push through another replacement. Excuse me? What’s a warranty for? Ok ok. End result - they’re sending me the newer updated, unboxed model Excel 3.0 wi-fi version. It just shouldn’t be this hard.

Excellent little machine.
I make my own cigars and needed a way to keep them safely at 70% humidity. Bought this humidifier about a week ago and am thrilled with it. I am using a small wine cellar to keep my cigars and this unit keeps the humidity between 69.5% to 70% humidity. I am quite pleased and happy and would buy another if I needed it. Highly recommended. A bit of advice: if you happen to be making your own cigars, let them air dry for a couple days before putting them in the humidifier otherwise the extra moisture will make your percentage too high and this little machine cannot bring it down.

Helped bring dry cigars back to life
Are you tired of always having to change your sponges... Just get this, you wont regret it... Works as described and fits nicely in a small/medium sized humidor. So easy to maintain humidity in the humidor. I also used the Excel to bring back to life some very dry cigars I had. I slowly increased the humidity from 50% to 70% over a number of days and the cigars are now in much better shape!

Don't waste your money.
Plug it in, set it and leave it... or so they say. If you have expensive cigars, and want to keep them expensive.. don't waste your money on these cheaply made water box with a fan. I've had mine for less than a year, only filed it up twice which was nice.. but now its a paper weight, it reads 99% humidity 100% of the time so the fan will not turn on, and regulate the actual humidity level which is now in the low 50's as I write this. I will be going back to boveda tomorrow.
