Jim Dunlop Primetone® Jazz III Grip Pick 1.4MM - 3 Pack

The fundmental is a bit louder, clear and rounder, especially when playing high up the neck, so fret buzz is reduced. The bevel is asymmetric, so the leading edge has a stronger bevel, so it's designed perfectly in that regard. Instantly, tremolo picking is faster and smoother as compared with the red nylon version of the same Jazz III. The tone on the red nylon is a bit more nasaly also, so the Prime Tone material gives a better tone indeed on small strings like the 9's that I use. The grip pattern is also perfectly designed, being symmetrical and consistent in a circular pattern. But unlike with the Max Grip picks, this grip pattern is not so dense and rough that it gets packed with skin cells and dirt. I'd always have to clean the Max Grip picks with an old toothbrush once a week. The extra premium ultex material is also far more durable than anything else you could use, especially nylon. The only negative is that it's dark brown. Literally why is it a tasteful, leathery dark brown? Picks aren't supposed to match your clothes or your home decor. We want them to be bright so that when we put them down or drop them, we can SEE THEM. I had this problem with the Max Grip picks - the black 'stiffo' ones had a better, fatter tone than the red nylon ones, but I'd sometimes lose the black 'uns when I would put them down. But it's not worth docking a star because the picks are so awesome. They're worth the high price because they deliver in every way, hard. They are awesome, and I will never use another pick again for electric guitar. Finally I recommend using this Jazz III even though it feels small at first. That's precisely why it rules - because it is small, there's less play within your grip as compared with the Jazz III XL, which you might prefer at first as a kind of training wheel type thing. Just get the Jazz III, it's objectively the best pick for playing fast. Sharper ones are too sharp. Regular ones are too blunt. If you're using 9s or 10s, 1.4mm is perfect.

Wow! Noticeable difference in how these Primetone picks glide off the strings, and the grip is perfect for me. I'm working on lightening my touch and these help make that a breeze. Currently my top pick.

Having played jazz iii picks on and off(being smaller theyre even more susceptible to being sucked into the pick devouring black holes of no return) I recently got some more in a variety pack and remembered why I preferred them. Jazz iii picks have a small shape and therefore they are precise when it comes to controlling dynamics. The combination of a moderate thickness- not too thin that you hear only plastic but not too thick you risk snapping a string- makes for a pick that will make your notes articulate like you never knew possible. Each note is clear and deliberate even when playing chords or an overdriven guitar. The clarity of the notes ringing out makes these picks suitable for ALL styles of playing from Jazz chording and lead lines to folk strumming and even metal sweeping. The small shape can take adjusting for players used to standard size picks but it's just that right amount of material to give you confidence you will strike each note precisely. After playing one Jazz iii for months I wanted to try some different grip options like Kirk Hammett's signature heart like one and ultimately I felt the primetone offered the best grip while still fitting the same footprint of a standard red nylon Jazz iii. The grip is circular on both sides and feels like each groove is sitting in the small grooves of my fingerprints. The slight burnishing on the edge of the tip also making transitions like arpeggios between strings much smoother. I cannot recommend the Jazz iii enough for ALL playing styles and ALL guitars from acoustic to electric. THIS is the missing piece of your tone, I guarantee it. Pictured on the left is a standard nylon jazz iii, middle is a primetone and right is a kirk Hammett signature.

These picks are PHENOMENAL. I purchased 1 pack of these a little while back and I threw them to the side when I got them. I didn't even open them for a few weeks and then when I finally just opened the pack and broke into playing with them. Oh. My. God. The "sculpted" bevel makes this pick so smooth and quick. It creates a great, bright and warm sound. I bought another pack instantly. 3 was just not enough. They are too good. Easily one of the best picks you'll ever use. They are slightly more pricey but I think we'll worth it. It's also nice that your "hand-sculpted" picks come in a pack that is initialed by the sculpter. So Extra, but a nice touch. If you were thinking of buying these and hesitating over the price, Don't, I think you'll find that you are satisfied with what you receive.

These almost made the top of my preference in picks. They look great and are just thick enough to be stiff, as I've recently began going that direction after years of using medium picks. The plastic for these imparts a nice bright tone, and the embossed logo is unobtrusive and provides enough texture to help secure the pick. My only reason for 4 stars is the overall size. While I find these small jazz picks are great for practicing accurate technique, I prefer a slightly larger size for playing live. I recently tried a Dunlop Big Stubby in 1.0mm, which is just about the perfect replacement for the discontinued (fake) Dunlop tortoise-shell picks I've used for years. I'll be trying those in the next thickness available (2.0mm) next as a comparison.

Love these picks - and they are much cheaper than BlueChip, but almost as effective

Compared directly against a brand new Jazz III pick (the red one), it feels so much smoother. There are no burrs or jagged edges, just a smooth, hard, edge. The tone is crisp and it actually has a fairly defined attack, unlike the Ultex Jazz III pick, which can sound a bit muddy in my opinion almost like playing with the fat side of a regular Fender medium pick. The material that the pick is constructed with is quite different from a regular Jazz III pick, it almost doesn't feel like plastic but maybe more like bone. All in all, if you're used to Jazz III picks and want something that feels a bit nicer, a bit more premium, like a pick that's been worn in for a few months, give this a shot.

Most amazing pick I've ever used. I've done extensive testing with many highly-reviewed picks, and the thing that puts this pick way out in front is the lack of string scrape. I play fast rock / metal, and when you pick fast, especially chugging away on the E & A strings, you get a LOT of pick scrape in your sound. This is the only pick I've ever found that doesn't create that grating, scraping sound when picking fast. You get the string sound, nothing else. This lack of harsh scraping sound combined with the improved accuracy you get with the Jazz III shape, and the raised grip, makes for the ultimate pick. You'll hear your natural tone shining through. Simply incredible, and yes it's expensive, but it is worth every penny.

Habe das Plektrum ja bestellt, weil ich schon immer damit spiele. Es sind von Hause aus recht kostenintensive Plektren aber von sehr guter Qualität.

Perfect pick for jazz. They have a fantastic grip so they won't fly out of your hand, and are clear, articulate and very smooth on chords - they don't jump out but sit nicely balanced with picked single notes. Has a crisp and well-defined but warm sound unlike the many others I've tried. Definitely special, and worth the premium price. Only one hitch - the colour makes it easy to lose on a dark floor! Highly recommended
