"I've never laughed out loud so many times while reading just to turn around and melt into a puddle of swoon juice from all the steamy sweetness Kate packed in between the brilliant sight gags and hilarious banter in this book. It might just be the best $3.99 I've ever spent." -B.B. Easton, author of 44 Chapters About 4 Men An desertcart TOP 30 Bestseller! Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk. Not cool, Mom. I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work. Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself. There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot. Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well. And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect. That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams. Everything is perfect. That is, until Troy takes a good look at her. I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game. I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right. Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win. The Underdogs Series Reading order #1 The Guy on the Right #2 The Guy on the Left #3 The Guy in the Middle *Though all books in The Underdogs Series can be read as stand-alone novels, it's highly suggested you read them in order as all three stories interconnect, and book three has a extended series epilogue. Review: My favourite book of 2019 - The Guy on the Right by Kate Stewart 5 stars!! "We’re polar opposites in some ways. I’m too country, and he’s a whole lot of everything else. We shouldn’t fit, but we do, and our fit is nothing short of spectacular." One of my favourite books from Kate Stewart is her romantic dramedy, Anything But Minor. Seeing a different side to Kate Stewart's writing was like a breath of fresh air and after many of her trademark angstathons, she has delivered yet another romantic dramedy winner. I still can't believe that it eclipsed ABM for me. The Guy on the Right is hilarious, yet has the perfect balance of swoon, hot and I mean hot dances between the sheets, one of the best and hottest first kisses EVER, a little angst, a few tears both in laughter and upset, and one of the best endings. This book had EVERYTHING. "We made love, as cheesy as it sounds, but there isn’t another word for it, not at all. It wasn’t sex, and it was far too intimate to be f***ing. Well, maybe the third or fourth time could be considered f***ing. Those were more porn than promise, but neither of us had any objections." Theo is one of those heroes that you will champion along from the very beginning. He is not your typical jock, but a man with heart and soul. Brought up with three sisters, this man has women down pat, their behaviour, their temperament, their feisty attitudes and definitely their ways of thinking. The one thing he hasn't mastered though is his own relationships with women. He thought he had the one, but alas, had his heart trampled and he has been reticent to try again since. When a chance encounter with Laney happens, the world as Theo knows it is turned on its axis, for the better. Laney is one of my favourite heroines ever. If this woman was a piece of rock, she would have Texas running right through her. She is sassy, she says what she thinks, she is honest to a fault and has absolutely no filter, which only makes her all the more lovable. She works hard and plays harder. Until she met Theo. Laney may have a gypsy heart, but Theo is just the man to give her a reason to plant roots. "She’s a second look kind of girl. The first look at her is for simple appreciation for the stunner she is. The second look is a realization of what an idiot you were for not looking longer the first time around." Theo knows he is batting way above his league, but for these two, it just didn't matter. They clicked. Friends first, these two just gelled and became the best of friends and seeing this friendship develop was in itself a story. Friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and give me an underdog to root for, you can bet that I will be their biggest supporter, but Theo made this a no brainer. "We’re in the middle of the f***ing woods with a rubber slingshot. And don’t think for one second I won’t toss you in front of me at the first sign of danger, because I’m not that guy. You will die first." I was championing these two along from the very start, and while Laney usually goes for the bad boys, the fly by nights, like Theo's roommate, Troy, Laney finally sees the other side and wonders what in the hell took her so long. This is no instalove, it takes time for Laney's eyes to open and see the perfect specimen in front of her, but the fall, OMG the fall. Kate Stewart delivers BIG STYLE! I had a permagrin while reading this book, had a stitch through laughing and while it isn't all plain sailing (of course where is the fun in that) the angst that is thrown in was well delivered, tear-inducing and made the make up all the better. "If I’m completely honest, I’ve been falling for him in pieces since the night we met. And for the first time since we started the relationship, I’m unsure if I’m worthy of such a gift. The gift of knowing him, of seeing him this way, of being on this side of his affection." The Guy on the Right is the perfect summer read. This book will make you feel good, it will brighten the gloomiest of days and with a nod to the southern women's bible, Steel Magnolias, there is many a one-liner that will have you crying with laughter in the best way possible. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Review: I'd take The Guy on the Right any day of the week... - I can honestly admit that I nearly gave up on The Guy on the Right. It was NA College at its finest...which unfortunately, left me tut-tutting and shaking my head in all of my old lady glory. These characters got up to crazy shenanigans and acted recklessly as normal college-aged students do. The older I get, the further I am away from the memories of those good old days and that craziness has lost its appeal. But as the story progressed and I got to know the characters better, I came to love what was below the surface. Theo and Laney have ghost pains and love wounds to compare when they meet for the first time. Neither of them is looking for the love of their lives and are very hesitant to trust the opposite sex. The best part of their relationship is that it started out as friendship. They were able to be open with each other and establish a natural conversation without the pressures of lusty lustiness. Theo was attracted to Laney from the beginning but didn't want it to be one-sided as she had put him in the friend-zone. With time their connection grew stronger and neither of them could deny the zing between them. Kate Stewart has treated us to a very funny, sweet, sexy and heartwarming story. The characters came to life for me and I loved getting to know them better and seeing their growth from beginning to end. Like I mentioned above, at first, I thought it was going to be all about the shenanigans but as the story progressed, I loved seeing the deeper side to the characters. When Theo and Laney eventually take their relationship to the next level...IT WAS HOT!!!!! I laughed, sniffled, sighed and squirmed reading The Guy on the Right and by the end I was questioning if there was even a guy on the left or any other guy for that matter. Theo was a fantastic hero but he wasn't perfect. He does an absolutely knumbskully thing towards the end and I was absolutely SHOCKED! He should have trusted his heart and he nearly paid the penalty for his silly insecurities. But, that just made him human and he definitely made up for it BIG TIME. Laney was funny and I loved it when she finally acknowledged Theo's attractiveness. It was almost like if she admitted it, she'd have to give him up. They were perfect together. If you're a fan of Kate Stewart you will absolutely LOVE The Guy on the Right. If you're a fan of NA College, I highly recommend giving this one a go. I'm not normally a fan of this genre, but I had to make an exception for Ms Stewart. I knew she'd get it right, well, I knew after the first 30% (sorry for doubting your abilities Ms Stewart) that she'd have me loving these characters by the end. Theo is the kind of hero every girl should dream of and Laney is the heroine we all wish we could be a little like. I highly recommend reading The Guy on the Right and I can't wait for more from this author.

believe all the reviews
Well believe the good ones. This was light hearted. It was AMAZING banter. I live for it. Truly. I mean who hasn’t read Kate Stewart before ? Her usual stuff leans more towards a heavier side.. this was light hearted and something I’d expect from college students. I can’t wait to continue reading The series.

Love, love, loved this!
Theo is very experienced when it comes to women. He has three sisters and has seen and heard anything and everything. From periods, first loves and the hormonal ups and downs. He is now at college and shares a house with a guy who pretty much has a revolving door to his bedroom. No repeat appearances and Theo is usually the guy counseling the conquests in the morning at the breakfast table. He will never comprehend how a guy treats girls like that and why they put themselves through it. Theo has been in love before, deeply in love with his long term girlfriend who he adored. He is the kind of guy any girl would be lucky to have as their one but sadly his heart was broken and it has hardened his heart a little bit. Trust is huge for him and doesn’t want to go through something like that again. However, fate has other plans for him, he just doesn’t know it yet. Laney has recently come out of a relationship and plans to stay clear of guys for a while, especially the pretty boys. She needs some time out from dating and just enjoy being single for a while. She meets Theo at a frat party one night whilst she is puking in the garden and on his shoes. They share a conversation in the dark that will most likely be the only time their lives will cross paths. It is a moment she will always remember. Well, turns out their paths do cross again and this is just the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Theo has never met a girl like Laney, she is fun, spontaneous and no day with her is the same. She definitely keeps him on his toes, there is never a dull moment. I love how she brings him out of his comfort zone, multiple times! Laney is enjoying being with a guy who is so in tune to her and without expectations of anything other than friendship. However, something is brewing between them and I just knew that once they got to that point of realization that it was going to be freaking amazing. What I loved about this is that they had months of friendship where they got to know each other's minds and then eventually their hearts. Laney is a girl that Theo never thought would willingly choose him. Theo is a guy that Laney wouldn’t normally date but she is so so glad she resisted other temptations and chose him. There is so much more to this story that I haven’t even touched on and I laughed out loud so many times. I loved the banter between them and how they just seamlessly became the most gorgeous couple. If you are wanting to read a story that makes you believe in love and happy ever after then this is it. Love, love, loved this!

Grand gestures
You meet the main characters Theo and Laney who are both in college together and meet at a party at Theo's house. Theo is instantly intrigued by Laney and her demeanor and they start hanging out more and become friends. Laney is a bit of a wild child and has some crazy hobbies, and managed to bring Theo on a few of her adventures. Which happens to include them sharing an edible together and I couldn't stop laughing at what they ended up going through. Hanging out more they start to finally get closer with their feelings and opening up about themselves. Just as they're finally in a good place, drama breaks out which rocks their relationship. Theo manages to pull his act together and fights to get Laney back with such a grand gesture that most girls would dream of getting from their guy. Overall this was a friends to lovers cute story that doesn't have too much spicey scenes added to it.

Opposites attract in a big way
4.5 stars I've read Kate Stewart's romantic comedy still but this maybe my favorite one, pretty funny and amusing. Plus I love a good underdog guy hero so this was very much appealing. Theo is a hoot! He's like smart ass but sweetheart band geek all one. Laney is I can't totally describe her, she's a spitfire, scrappy sentimental and loyal. They are so different and not the others type but they get along so well. They are good friends at first but something is brewing but both are in denial. Well Laney is off men and Theo has been burned. I really like them and I felt their connection, the whole friends first and friends zone worries. They slowly saw each other through and cared for the other. Laney was extremely busy but made time for Theo and vice versa. I fell in love with them like they did slowly for the other. Theo was mysterious but when he opened up he has so much to give. I llve Theo's sisters and his family they just hilarious. The whole banter was witty and snarky. I wasn't a fan of Theo's friends to be honest. There is some boy drama and between Theo and his housemates that was overdue, misunderstandings between Laney and Theo. Eye opening things for Theo too he had his armor all throughout in case he gets hurt again and assuming things.I liked that whole self reflection part and how they realize they both made mistakes and learning to find themselves. The author made a romantic comedy with heart and feeling, growing up and learning. I hope she has more of these kinds up her sleeve. Troy's story will be interesting for sure.

Theo+Laney = #friendstoloverscouplesgoals ♥️🎶
Theo+Laney = #friendstoloverscouplesgoals So , I’m a gal who literally goes from one book to the next. Y’ALL!! I have walked around all damn day and literally picked this book back up repeatedly. Just to go back to parts of it ,and reread them ,because this book IS.THAT.FREAKIN.FANTASTIC! I just didn’t want to accept that it was over. 😢I wanted to hang onto Theo and Laney’s story a little longer before I let them go. 😍So let me try to do this justice without giving anything away, because #SpoilersSuck!! What can I say? Theo and Laney’s story is friends to lovers PERFECTION! ♥️Theo is the guy who is adorably cute(oh no adorable!that’s the no sex kiss of death☠️) Yet so hot in his own way. I can tell you for dang sure, our band guys sure the hell didn’t look like that!! Theo, for years has measured himself up against the “Jock standard” or the “ model/abs for days type”. Laney is this gorgeous, Doritos locos taco 🌮 lovin’ country girl, who has spent way to long dating the wrong guys. Mostly guys those same guys that Theo would think he couldn’t measure up to. When they meet( spectacular meet-cute BTW)they immediately form this hilariously fun friendship. Be prepared for LOL moments, sweet moments😍,moments hotter than biscuits and gravy! 🔥A misunderstanding and conflict that will have you on the edge of your seat. And of course an ending to rival any John Hughes movie- worthy endings!! 🙌🏻 Let’s not forget some of my most favorite things of all... The Grannism’s, the hashtags, the references to one of the most amazing iconic movies ever, they legit make this book EVERYTHING! Gah! * releases squeals of happiness* ♥️ *I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book. My cr8zysockbookblock overall ratings for this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️-This book was EVERYTHING!! It was sweet, full of fun, sass, they had great fun chemistry from the get go. But it was slow burn not Insta love. I love these main characters so much. The supporting characters were awesome as well. The Ending was Perfection! 🖤🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥- Steamy , but super passionate. Hot band geek sex, yes please. This was like sizzling sweet. Like making love , but down and dirty love!! 🖤You can wear some pretty Panties but... they are coming off ladies! 🌪Cliffhanger Warning- There is NO cliffy. HEA for you!! 😍🎶🙌🏻

The perfect summer read. I could read about this couple forever!
This is how you write a romantic comedy to my hearts desires. OMG! The Guy On The Right was a blast! Hilarious, cute and romantic as hell. Theo and Laney are insanely funny. A hoot. So opposite but so so right for one another. They just work. Theo is a good guy who doesn’t get all the girls. He doesn’t want all the girls. He wants the ONE and all the emotions that comes along with it. He’s not a one night stand kind of guy and like his roommates. Theo meets the outspoken and spontaneous Laney outside in the dark at a party. Even though they can’t see each other’s faces the connection is immediately. They unload on each other thinking they will never meet again. Well think again. The second time the meet each other I was done for. Theo and Laney had me. Hook, line and sinker. Their friendship and courtship was filled with so much humor, romance and laugh out loud moments. Starting with an instagram page. It was truly a beautiful friendship in the making and as they started to spend more time together, stripping layers of each other, they both discovered how special this bond they had created was. The build up was flawlessly written and as the story and their friendship progressed I started yearning for them to just give in and KISS. The pent up tension was insane and the reward was explosive. So hot and so worth it. As opposites as Theo and Laney are they complement each other perfectly. Their families and friends especially Theo’s 3 older sisters and Laney’s mother and bestie Devin are fun and deliver memorable moments too. The Guy On The Right is the perfect feel good, laugh out loud, swoon worthy summer book. Strangers who become best friends who become so much more than lovers. It’s a roller coaster of laughs and romance. From sniping hunting, to getting high to a tornado. Just to name a few highlights. It’s not even half of it. Just jump on board the Kate Stewart express and hold on for the ride. Kate Stewart delivered comedy with her Balls In Play series and with The Guy On The Right she excels and has created a home run. Theo and Laney gave me all I could’ve ever imagined. A love story to remember. What a couple! 5 Taco & Grand Band Man Stars

I laughed out loud so often with this story, the characters are relatable and with that, the story flows brilliantly. I got this book through Kindle Unlimited but I'm going to buy it it's that GOOD! Read it, laugh and be thoroughly entertained! Well done Kate Stewart and to think this is my first time reading any of your books, I'm off to find one in your stable *clapping gleefully ☺️

I Want The Guy On The Right
For reference, I'm writing this review at half two in the morning since I just finished this book five minutes ago. That would mean I've sacrificed my precious sleep in order to read this book in all of its brilliant glory. So, I normally only buy ebooks and then purchase the paperback if I love the ebook enough. Welp, that wasn't the case here. I read the blurb and straight up bought the paperback instead of doing the safety route. I just dove straight in because the blurb reeled me in hardcore. And I have never been more pleased with a purchase. Seriously. This book was everything. It made me wheeze laugh, made me groan with frustration, and made me cry. It's hard to make me cry unless it's a darn good book and I'm hella invested. And boy let me tell you, I was invested. I was gripped by the very first page. The writing is flawless, and the story is one I will always remember. I simply don't have a bad thing to say about it. I'm already nagging those closest to me to buy and read the book. They're idiots if they dont listen to me, because this has been my favourite read of 2019 thus far. Sigh. Now what am I going to do with my life? Because I'm currently wallowing in self misery thanks to the hangover this book has given me! Worth it, though.
