Great in-depth analysis if the embouchure and how it functions!
A great read for any serious trumpet player, beginning to advanced :)Part 1 goes over the physics of how the sound is produced through the horn, leaving no gray areas as to how to form the right embouchure "set."Highly recommend you purchase this! Worth way more than the dollar amount it's selling for.

This is not for beginners but there is much for most players to consider.
This a mature work by an experienced player, teacher and writer. A beginning player in high school would benefit from reading the entire book....a recommended first step by the author. After that a gradual study of the etudes and techniques should be of interest to trumpet players. There is much to study and should be added to a trumpet player's library.

One explanation of how to hit high notes.
This is a fun read. It is one of a number of texts that describe how to reach ultra high notes on the trumpet. It is useful in the way that it deals with the physiology of the embouchure, but has to be balanced against methods like Caruso or Maggio, which have different emphases. Some of the recommendations here about practice and the setting of the embouchure muscles are very useful.I have a strong overbite and this book would condemn me to high note hell. If I could not thrust my chin forward enough I would be doomed to playing on the stave. Maggio's method was developed by a player who lost teeth in an accident and is commonly used now, even by pedagogues that do not know they are using it. (It involves pedal note practice and lip positioning.)So read it and use it but be wary of it being too dogmatic about your physiology being everything. It is not. Psychology and intelligent practice beat everything.Modern teachers also use the Tu - Tee method of arching the tongue and increasing air velocity and reaching high notes. I have found that that works, but you must start with an embouchure that is strong enough with diaphragm compression to reach a high C without arching the tongue. Then arch and the lips will not separate and destroy the aperture as you go up to double C.That is my experience.

i give it five ratings
This is a great book for a self analysis of your embouchure. I am using the book as an instruction aid to solve some of my embouchure problems. The isometric exercises have increased my range and tone quality. This book is describing how to enhance your playing ability the new way, not just lips slurs and long tones , as was taught years in the past, but what is required to play in the new era of trumpet playing. Great book that will enhance any ones playing abilities if the instructions are followed with the required discipline.

Why so complicated?
Reads more like a doctoral dissertation. There are much better books out there on this subject that are much more practical.

This is the most comprehensive embouchure self-analysis book I've ever read. It is definitely helpful to correct playing problems! I would recommend it to any brass player amateur or professional. Excellent.

Molti spunti interessanti
