Good Case, Don't Overpay
I was a bit nervous about this case because I saw very few detailed reviews, and my initial reaction was more like a three star review-- the case seems like it's designed for a longer zoom (I have an X-A5 with the 15-45 lens), there was a small ding in the leather (didn't bother returning, delivery was slow anyway, I just hit it with a black Sharpie and you can't even see it now) and the bottom half of the case has a cutout on the lower right side that looks like it's made for a different cameras lens release or sensor or something. Now that I've used it for a few days, it's winning me over... I can see that in a rare and bizarre situation where the camera turned on inside the case (which I can't imagine happening) the extra length for the lens would prevent damage to the motor. The cutout for the HDMI and mini USB port are in just the right place, you can access the microphone jack without opening the case, and the leather door on the bottom to access the battery is very, very handy-- you'll use it a lot, because I've discovered that to transfer images, it's just easier to pop the card and use a card reader, the Fuji App is slow and a piece of crap, so that little door is important! I'm still thinking about a neoprene case because this is just bigger than what I wanted, and I have this fantasy of using the X-A5 with a fast draw, like a point and shoot, but that's not realistic-- it's like a small DSLR, and I do feel like this protects the camera well-- it reminds me of the case for my old Canonet 35mm, which, despite just being made of leather, protected the camera from a lot of knocks. Buttons and snaps seem sturdy, strap seems secure, screw for the tripod mount is metal and doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, used it three or four days so far. It's a better piece of kit than I thought, I'm happy giving it four stars for $25, closer to 5 stars for 20 bucks or less. There seem to be VERY few cases available for these cameras-- I may get the neoprene eventually for traveling light and using a bag with other stuff in it, but for a day-to-day case, pretty good.
