What weight is the paper itself?

Not sure of the exact weight but somewhere between very heavy tissue and brown bag. It is advertised as newspaper weight and is excellent for packing and shipping.

Are these good for dog papers? Our local newspaper is so small now, it'd be cheaper to buy blank pages.

This paper is NEWSPRINT PACKING PAPER. I know nothing about printing on it. It is certainly too large for my computer printer.
