Zignature Trout & Salmon Limited Ingredient Formula Dry Dog Food 4lb

We have been very happy with Zignature Trout. My 1 dog has very bad allergies, so after doing research online about some of the causes of food triggered allergies, we decided to try Zignature. We needed a food that did not have corn, wheat, chicken or potatoes. Trying to find a potato free dog food is challenging- there are not a lot of brands that are potato free. My dog has much less itching & her ear infections went away after starting her on this food. She likes this Trout & Salmon, & we've also tried the Zignature Whitefish (my dog likes that as well). I definitely recommend this food: seems to have good quality ingredients & I like the fact that its potato free. Ingredients: Be sure to read the back labels of any food or treat you buy. It's very helpful to research ahead of time before going to a store or placing an order online, to know exactly what ingredients are in your pets food. Often times, issues such as itchiness, loose stool, & digestive issues can be solved by providing a good quality food (without all the filers). It truly makes a difference. Take a look at Zignatures' website because it has a lot of info about what exactly they put into their food. Unlike many other manufacturers, Zignature uses meat & fish as their main ingredients. (When reading a label, the items listed first on the label are the largest quantities of that item.) Many other manufacturers list a carb as some of their first ingredients, or corn, corn gluten meal, etc. Cheaper quality food will contain more fillers. Also important to note: Compare the feeding instructions when comparing food & costs. Some of the brands you always see commercials for (which are junk foods) will have feeding quantities that can be up to twice more. Thats because that food is filled with filers & items that offer little to no nutritional value for your dog. With better quality food, you feed less. My 35-40 lb dogs eat 1/5-2 cups a day. Highly recommend Zignature Trout & Salmon for dogs that have sensitive stomachs, who have allergies (or possible food sensitivities) that are shown with itchiness & possible digestive issues, dogs that need a potato free diet, & for anyone looking to feed a quality food with healthy ingredients. This stuff is incredible. I switched to this because I got a sudden urge one day to see where IAMS ranked as a food. Don't get me wrong, IAMs is considered a good dogfood (for the price. It's rated at 3 stars). But seeing things like ground up chicken beaks and horse hooves, got me researching for a 5 star dog food. Something with a higher percentage of protein (keeps dogs full with less food, and helps them lose weight from my understanding). That search took me to Blue Diamond wilderness. I was THIS close to clicking order, when I began reading allll of the negative things reviewers have had to say about that food on consumer reports (seriously...look it up...it ranks like 1 or 2 stars from people who have actually used it. A lot of complaints of sick dogs). I've never tried that food, so can't really knock it. But the reviews scared me enough to reset my search. I ended up at this. Nothing but positive reviews, GREAT ingredients. And I have never seen my dogs THIS excited for their daily feeding (a lab, and an american staff). The American staff is literally foaming at the mouth now for her feeding (before, she would run outside and come back in to eat her IAMS a few hours later...hardly enthusiastic...). They're SO excited, that I'm almost as excited as they are to feed them every day, knowing they're getting something that good. I can't wait to try the other flavors on them. Highly recommended.

No skin issues since changing to fish protein.

Our rescue Labrador was shedding profusely, itchy with gas and runny stools. The vet gave her a shot and told me if the allergies were seasonal I would see a difference in a week, otherwise it was food. I looked into the top allergens ( beef, chicken, pork, corn, wheat, etc.). Also looked for top foods not sourced from China; Zinature came up in all the lists. She has been on the trout & salmon (also Omegas) for about a month and her fur has grown in, the shedding is normal, stools as they should be. She also loves the food. We are very happy.

My fur baby has had problems with skin allergies and odor for years. Originally, I put him on Blue Buffalo/Blue Wilderness Chicken Dry Food in 2012. That seemed to work until 2013 when he started to not be able to hold it down. At PetSmart, the in-store Blue Wilderness sales guy suggested that I switch my baby to Blue Basics and change from Chicken to Salmon. That seemed to work for a while until once again, my baby developed skin rashes and started to be unable to hold the food down (despite my blending it to a powder in the Vitamix which I combine with water). One day, I was searching www.earthclinic.com for holistic allergy cures for pets and one of the other pet owners mentioned the Zignature brand of dog food suggesting that it may be the "sweet potato" in the Blue Basics which was causing my baby's allergies. Although I hadn't thought much about it and often use sweet potato puree for puppy stomach issues, the other pet owner suggested that the sugar in the sweet potato was causing a "candida"/"leaky gut" reaction. Well, that was all I needed to know. My baby has been on Zignature Dry food for a few weeks. I worked it into his diet gradually as recommended by the manufacturer. Although it is obvious that the incessant itching/scratching has stopped, he still has the funky smell indicative of skin allergies. It has only been about 2 weeks that he's been 100% on Zignature so I guess I need to give it more time on the "smell" front since he's not due to be groomed until next week. As a point of full disclosure, I also have him on a probiotic treat, twice a day, so that might be contributing to his improvement as well. The pro-biotic is also available here on Amazon. It is called "Vetri Science Veterinarian Gastrointestinal Health Canine+Feline formula Vetri Probiotic". He loves the food as well as the pro-biotic treat.

I have so many good things to say about this brand. I have a 1.5yr old long hair German Shepard who’s tummy can’t handle chicken lamb or anything besides waterfowl. I went through several well known food brands and you could tell she didn’t want it and would have diarrhea and she lost so much weight and became de lulu and drunk walking and sleeping all the time. and Within a month of switching to this food she gained so much weight and is back to her normal energetic self and her coat is BEAUTIFUL and so soft. Only negative is just the fishy smell to her breath and the food bowl, which I will happily deal with if it means my girl is happy and healthy. I rotate give her the trout salmon whitefish and catfish to keep her interested and she loves them all.

Food smells, makes my dog extremely thirsty and does not agree with him

I have a 10YO Lab that had developed allergies that manifested as irritated ear canals, hot spots all over her body and constant itching...CONSTANT ITCHING!. This went on and increased in severity for the last 3 or 4 years to a point where you could genuinely see that my buddy was miserable, she was absolutely miserable and personally i think she began to give up. We tried every food available from every retailer, ran up vet bills, administered steroids, you name it, nothing helped. Then in the summer of 2021 my wife was turned on to this product from a close friend with similar issues. we begrudgingly bought a bag and damn near instantly everything changed. when i say instantly i mean within 2 days we could see a difference. fast forward to July 2022, she is a sweet old dog who is as happy as a clam. None of the issues that we had in the past have been seen in over a year. couldn't be happier with this product! She scrafs it ravenously when we feed her so we know she loves the taste. We also love it over Ice Cream (kiddin). I cant say enough about this product. I know its expensive, but try a bag if you have similar issues and see what happens!
