GE Freezer was icing and replaced heater element to fix icing
The heater element was removed after deicing the freezer and 11 we remove the Old heater element it was noticed that the Old eater heater Was discolored And showed evidence of Damage. We replaced with The New heater element provided by Amazon After Approximately 5 Days of running the GE model GSH25jxsnss Refrigerator it has been working well and shows no signs of freezing on the back Wall of the freezer, see attached photo!

Well worth it, donโt throw your fridge away! Fix it!
Second or third one Iโve put in the refrigerator in about 10 years. The refrigerator is 23 years old and works wonderfully. This is much cheaper than buying a new refrigerator.

failed after one week
Replaced the OEM unit with this one. Also replaced the board and the evap fan as part of trying to stop the ice from melting during defrost and refreezing. We had also experienced periods when the unit stopped cooling and had to be reset (the board was bad). The OEM defrost was not bad, but I thought I would replace it as part of the repairs. After all the parts were replaced the unit ran great, for a few days. Then the ice started to melt even worse than before. After research I determined that the thermister was most likely bad so I ordered two supposedly OEM parts to replace both of the parts in the freezer. I was VERY surprised when I opened the panel to find the defrost element along with the wires and parts of the inner wall melted! Obviously this this thing had been way too hot (hence the melting ice). (note: during the troubleshooting of the issue, I had tested the overlimit thermostat and it broke the circuit at approx 180' which was actually lower than the OEM part I pulled out. Specs call for 140') I tested the upper thermister and found it was bad (read 12k ohms at room temp, the new ones were 5.86k ohms). This one controls the defrost temp. It would appear that the thermister that came with this kit had failed or was bad originally. (I did not test it before installation) Fortunately I still had the OEM defrost heater and replaced the bad connectors then put the original defrost back in (after I tested it) along with the new thermisters. Twenty four hours later we still have frozen, loose ice. Time will tell if I got it fixed. The root of our problem was actually a bad evap fan motor which caused the board to go bad. I just wanted to replace all the other parts as long as I was in there. I should maybe have just left them alone. Another lesson learned, always test "new" parts before installation. I left the replacement upper limit thermostat in. Hopefully it does not fail soon.

Heating element good, thermistor not good, thermostat just OK
This was a good replacement for the defrost heater. My old one might actually have been OK because I found when replacing that the wire spade connections were corroded with surface rust from the wet environment, so I added high temp dielectric grease to protect going forward. But it works well. The thermistor was WAY OFF CALIBRATION. You need to really really make sure that at 32F (ice water) the resistance is 16.3K. What I got in this product read 35K... since the thermistor determines when the defrost heater shuts off, the result was my defrost cycle would take the freezer compartment to 70F+, melting everything. Also, the thermistor needs to be mounted on the topmost pipe of the evaporator... top topmost. Lower (like where the thermostat is) results in reading too cold and again, overheating by a little. The thermostat is really just an overtemp protection to shut off at 140F, in normal operation it does nothing. The unit provided in this kit is OK but has a less secure latching clip than the OEM part, which makes it more likely to fall off the evap pipe.

Great fridge repair kit
Perfect fit for my unit took 20 minutes to get the fridge working again

Lasted six months
Purchased on 4/29/22. Only the heater was bad, but I bought the whole kit and replaced everything because it was inexpensive and those "still working" parts were getting quite old. Replacement was easy and it worked great for about six months. Pulled the back off the freezer wall today and it has recently burnt up. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying another one. And I'll pay $50 bucks a year to not have to buy a new comparable refrigerator. But I'd rather spend $200 and not have to deal with it so often. Perhaps there was user error or I just got a dud, but buyer beware.

It fixed the problem
I installed the defroster element first to see if I needed to replace the sensors. It looks like the sensors are still good and the defroster element solved the problem. The job took about 45 minutes since I wanted to defrost the coils first.

Fixed my problem
Seems like this part goes every two years or so. Hopefully the new design will last a bit longer. Still cheaper than a new fridge.
