HapeE1012 Early Explorer - Amimals Memory Game Game

I bought these because I thought they'd be more durable than the memory games you get at the store, which are made out of a heavy cardboard. I also thought that 24 pieces (12 matches) was a fairly reasonable amount for a toddler to work with. The other memory games seemed like they had way too many pieces for a small child, such that they'd either get too frustrated or too bored to continue. These seem to be well made, and I like the little pouch it comes in, since that's a little more space saving than the box. The designs are cute and the quality of both the pieces and the pictures on them are great. The slight curvature of the edges is a nice touch, which makes them easier to flip over. I originally balked at the price, since you can buy other memory games for a fraction of the price when there's a sale, but in the end I think these will last much longer.

These are very well made and super cute. My toddler hasn't yet got the hang of the traditional memory game, but he loves to match things up - so he likes these fun animal tiles. This is a portable game that can grow with your child. Initially, we used the tiles as animal flash cards. Next, we began to match the tiles and then find other animals around the house or in a book that are the same kind. Often my son does this on his own - we may be reading a book and he'll jump down and run to his tiles to find the matching animal. When we play a memory game, he gets the premise but needs work on the execution... he's two years old, so with practice it will come!

It's nice to have sturdy wood pieces for the classic Memory Game. Our 3 year old loves it. The set is not too large as to be overwhelming. However, as it is wood, advanced players will likely be able to recognize the unique wood grain/pattern and memorize them, because a few do stand out. I remember when I was a kid we had cardboard ones and I did remember the unique wear-and tear patterns of many tiles, and we were all able to 'cheat' that way. Comes in a nice draw-string cloth pouch, which is convenient for travel, but not if you need to travel light, as the wood tiles are much heavier than cardboard would be.

Love these little memory blocks. My son is almost 3 and obsessed with animals. These are printed/painted onto the wooden blocks, not cheap stickers attached. VERY important for my toddler, who likes to put EVERYTHING in the water. I caught him putting these in his water cup and the wood did not warp, picture did not wear off.While he isn't yet ready to play memory, we practice with the colors and naming the animals. Can't wait to use them for a LONG time - graduating into the memory game!

I like that Hape uses wood for their toys and are also very concious about the chemicals they use in children toys. These are solid wooden tiles for memory and well done. Note that there are noticeable different animals and colors for each tile. This helps for those learning memory skills to recognize the fine and larger differences between the tiles. I also like that it came with a cloth carrying bag to keep them all together.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. It's so worth the extra $$'s opposed to buying the cardboard ones. Little one even plays with them as dominoes when we are done with the game. We like to play outside and these do NOT blow away, hard to loose and will last a life time.

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter. She doesn't quite grasp the concept of matching the tiles when they are turned over, but she loves finding the matches when they are facing her. It will grow with her. The tiles are well made and the picture hasn't peeled off even though they made it into her mouth a couple times! Great product!

These exceeded my expectations! The wood is nicely finished and the animals are bright and clearly painted. I almost didn't purchase due to reviews with mismatched/missing pieces but the set I received is perfect.

These are so lovely. They come in their own carry bag. They are the perfect size for my three year olds hands. The pictures are not stickers but more like decals that seem like they will last. They are made from wood and handle nicely. About to buy again as a gift.

Lovely colours, great fun. Also we like to use them to build towers.
