AB Tools 200g Geologist Hammer Genuine Hickory Handle Pick Fossil Pointed Tip Rock 7oz

I'd hammer in the morning. those pesky naughty elves were at it again. they left my daughter a geode rock to crack open. i purchased this along with a small chisel and together we successfully exposed the wonderful crystal inside. but what to do with this item now that our rock breaking festivities are over? luckily, it also functions as a regular hammer. used it most recently to nail in the backing board of a new bookcase. its nice and light so my daughter was able to help, yet tough enough to hammer the tacks in with ease. perfect for those quick hammering jobs when you dont want to get your full toolbox out. and lets be honest, theirs nothing a hammer cant fix.

Looks like they have improved the way the head is attached. After reading other posts was a bit concerned but it seems firmly on. Haven't used it yet but is what I wanted, not too heavy or big, just enough for a bit of casual fossil hunting in Lyme Regis and a bargin at the price 😀.

Bought for a weeks visit to Lyme Regis in April so not exactly a long term requirement. They seem OK, the head is sealed to the shaft by a scotch and compound so should take some work but time will tell. Worth a fiver for a weeks fun on the beach fossil hunting..

Whilst the hammer head and the handle seem to be pretty good quality by themselves they just aren’t adequately joined - the manufacturer has rammed the handle in and out some resin in the end, the hammer head came off after hitting a few things. Potentially quite dangerous as the head could fly off and hit someone.

Thought this would be perfect for a family trip to the Jurassic coast…unfortunately the head of the hammer fell off on its first use. Manufacturer needs to work out a different way of securing the hammerhead in place. Wouldn’t recommend this item as it is not fit for purpose

I have to say, this AB Tools 200g Geologist Hammer is a real gem! Not only does it pack a punch when it comes to breaking rocks, but it's also lightweight and easy to handle. I felt like a total rockstar using this bad boy on my latest geology expedition. Plus, the bright orange handle makes it easy to spot when you inevitably lose it in a pile of rocks. Trust me, this hammer rocks!

The handle and head are both of decent quality. It works well. It is lightweight as expected.However the wedge used to keep the handle on was a hollow circular thing that did not work very well or last very long. I replaced it with a much better wedge.
