Is it animal leather or false?

It appears to be synthetic with a leather like front and a velvety back. One advantage is that it can get wet. It's easier maintenance as well.

Are the metal rings silver, or nickel?

My guess would be nickel- Considering the price, probably nickel plated..

Is this harness made of genuine leather?

Yes...it is "real" leather, and quite a sturdy piece. I have no clue why that other response said it was "leather like:" It is definitely real leather.
