Great battery mower!!!
Have had this mower for several months now and am ready to offer my opinion ... I really do like this mower!! This is the first battery operated mower I have owned and was a bit worried when I bought it. We have a little over a 1/4 acre and our yard is mostly flat. Have had many gas powered mowers and was ready to try the battery craze!! And, I'm glad I did. The mower operates smoothly - is very quiet and light weight. Glad I did not opt to spend the extra money on self propelled. One battery will usually do the whole yard - about 35-45 minutes of run time. The height adjustment is easy - the few controls are easy - the whole process -- easy!! Loading the battery is simply. No vibration. No running to get gas in the can. No gas can in the garage. Very simple to operate and own. Does a nice job of cutting. I do the mulching option and will eventually try the bag just to see what it's like. Bought several other tools from this company and am happy with them all - and having extra batteries (the one battery fits all is a MUST and really works well). The only negative about this mower is the size - I purchased the smaller 16" cutting path and, although I really don't need bigger, it might save a little time (ok, just being a bit lazy to be honest!!). I would recommend this mower and this brand. Make sure each tool uses the same battery - just a suggestion - because it makes life easier with 3 batteries - there is always one charged and ready. (I also bought the weed eater and blower for those curious) Great product and I only hope I'm still this happy with it next year and the year after ..... happy mowing!

Makes Lawn Care So Much Easier!
I am really impressed with this Greenworks 40V cordless lawn mower. It was easy to assemble right out of the box, and the battery lasted long enough to mow my entire yard on a single charge. I love not having to deal with gas, oil, or extension cords. The mower is lightweight and easy to push, even around tight corners and flower beds. It cuts evenly and leaves my lawn looking clean and well maintained. The height adjustment is simple to use, and the grass collection bag works great. this is a great mower for small to medium-sized yards, and I would definitely recommend it.

A respectable all rounder... but with specific strengths and weaknesses.
I am on a half acre lot that is actually quite a bit larger than it seems at first blush. I have thick carpetgrass. So I have sort of the worst case scenario for this... about the maximum size lot you'd want to push mow, and with thick tougher grass that requires more oomph. Some thoughts: 1) Do not let your grass grow for 2+ weeks and then mow. The mower has some sort of "torque sense" feature to it, where it throttles up when it is having trouble churning through everything. This helps you power through the heavy stuff, but it also drains the battery considerably faster. It seems like twice as fast. So if you let your lawn go until it's thick, expect twice as many charges to get through it. 2) The grass clipping bag is laughably small. I would NOT want to bag much more a town house sized lawn, for fear I'd wear my shoes out with the amount of walking around it'd take to empty it so many times. It's a 16" deck... this is sort of expected for this size mower anyway, but this bag is small even for a 16" deck. 3) The battery charges surprisingly quickly. You have to wait an hour for cool down if you've really thrashed it ... but it will get most of the way back to full in 2 or 3 hours. 4) It is spookily quiet. You can listen to music easily while using this thing. 5) It is crazy light ... and on a lot with some serious slopes like mine, this is where the mower earns its keep. It is a real featherweight, and lighter than even a 12 or 14" deck el cheapo gas mower by far. This thing handles slopes with ease that would send riding mowers packing and slopes that push mowers would sending YOU packing on. 6) It's electric, so you have just one moving part other than the blade. The blade is the only thing requiring maintenance. Say goodbye to winterization of your mower. Say goodbye to trying to hunt down ethanol free gas that won't ruin your mower's gas tank or carburetor. I suspect even if the battery pack only gets you 4 or 5 years, you'd still come out ahead of a gas mower over the lifetime of the product, given that the gas stuff dings you $3/gallon to refill, and this tops up for just pennies off the wall socket. 7) The height adjust mechanism is sensible and sturdy. 8) It requires this little "key" (electric jumper is more accurate) to operate. I would NOT want to lose that. It will probably be a PITA to find a replacement over time. 9) It takes me about 4 charges to do my half acre if it is a bit dense (week and a quarter or so). One for the front, three for the back. Bear in mind I do have, as I said, about the worse case scenario (thick heavy grass type, largeish yard). So ... overall ... a pretty good compromise. I would NOT get if you do a lot of bagging on any considerable amount of yard. I would get if you have to contend with serious slopes on your yard. Even if you already have professional equipment. This is the best for slopes period. If your yard is a half acre or less ... I'd certainly consider it.

Great little mower !
I just used this mower for the first time and I’m impressed. We have a very groomed backyard and a small area of grass to mow that used to be pavers. This mower can handle grass no problem. It has a small profile that helps you maneuver in the tight areas. The battery has plenty of power and as far as I can tell I’lli won’t have to recharge until I mow this area about four times. No more gas and oil to deal with and as long as the blade is sharp this mower is great for small areas and should last a long time. Good mower for a good price. Very easy to set up.

Inexpensive and Works Well
Just bought this. Super easy to assemble. Battery charged in a few hours. Took a couple tries to get it turned on but it did a great job. Definitely adjust higher for taller weeds/grass. It’s lightweight but you will need some strength to push across uneven terrain. Battery life was great first use which was pretty thick weeds, leaves and uneven terrain. 40 minutes and it still had charge which is good for this price point. It’s pretty much plastic wheels etc., so I wouldn’t expect this to last forever but for an inexpensive mower, it works.

GREAT in most conditions, weak only in the very poorest conditions
UPDATE: I'm going to bump my review up to 4 STARS (from 3). Yes, it was a weak on my first test because, as I said in the review below, the grass was wet and had been allowed to get way too long and thick - conditions that would even cause the gas mower a little hesitation (just not as much). Today was my second use with the lawn being in "typical" condition. The mower was delight - easy to use, cut neatly and quickly, and this time I put the grass catcher on correctly (!) and it worked BEAUTIFULLY, easily catching 90% of the trimmings. And I don't smell like gas. If it holds up, this mower will be a great purchase... as long as I avoid wet, month-long growth! UPDATE to the UPDATE: After a full season with this mower, I can heartily recommend it. Mowing is a breeze and it has performed flawlessly. Even my wife and daughter who had refused to mow the lawns now no longer have an excuse(!) and they really like it. Original review: PROS: * Set up was easy, just unfold the arms and tighten them down, charge the battery and insert. Insert the catch bag. * Maneuvers more easily than a heavy gas mower * Lithium-ion batteries should last longer and are lighter than lead-acid * No gas! No going to the gas station! Nor you do you smell like exhaust afterwards - just a little grassy! * Charges in 1 to 2 hours * Battery holds up pretty well - no cords! (really think about how annoying a cord would be going back and forth) * FAR quieter than gas CONS: * Definitely weaker than a gas engine * A bit pricey * Long term durability in question * Takes longer because footprint is smaller, and you have to go slower in tough conditions * Not good for huge lawns NEITHER HERE NOR THERE: * Mower is relatively light - half the weight of a conventional gas mower, but also mostly plastic. There's little to rust, but I wonder how durable it will be, especially those kinda cheap wheels that love to get jammed between the lawn and the cement edges. * Looks ridiculous. Like a kiddie version of a street racer from Fast and Furious. It's almost embarrassing to push this thing around the front yard. ;) Then again, you might think it looks pretty cool. Okay, so how well does it work? Today was kind of "worst case". The lawn was longer than normal (because the gas mower broke and it took me a week to get around to ordering this replacement) AND about 50% of the lawn was thick and QUITE WET. These are challenging conditions to be sure, but the gas mower would have handled them with only minor problem. This little guy really struggled with the longer, wetter grass. I had to go slower, and frequently back-off or lift off to keep from bogging down the motor. It quit on me once, but started right up again. I think I could have done the front lawn in about 5 minutes using the gas mower, but this took me about 12 minutes (UPDATE: second time, in normal conditions, it took about 7 minutes). With these conditions, I really questioned whether the battery was going to hold out for the 25 minutes or so that it would take to do my <1000 square feet of lawn, but it did. It still reported about a one-third charge upon completion. In the patches of lawn that were neither especially long, thick or wet, the mower flew over them with absolute ease. SO... if you frequently encounter EXTREME conditions (extra long, thick or wet grass) I'd advise you to stick with gas. This one will get the job done, but there's just no comparison to the power of an internal combustion engine. BUT... if you have a modestly sized lawn, and do not mow it wet and crazy long, then I think you will LOVE this mower. I'm looking forward to trying it again under better conditions so I can confirm this and report back to you.

Great little mower!
Really appreciate this little mower. It is so quiet - to my surprise. Putting it together was a breeze. I'm able to mow my standard yard in a short amount of time. It's cheaper than the more popular brand but works just as well. Very happy with my purchase!

This Cuts Deep!
This Cuts Deep! Note this is for the 16" 40V 4 amp mower. So, first time caller line for electric mowers! I'm rating this right out of the gate four out of five stars because, first time. You can't go rating a lawnmower 5/5 on your first run, it's nonsensical to do so. Anyway, I've NEVER used an electric mower before so this felt a little odd, but not overly so. It sounds like a mower, just like... two houses down when its right in your face. And thank god it's mostly plastic (more on that in a bit) because it makes it really easy to throw it around. I was one arming it quite a lot, jerking it around to catch spots I missed and basically really happy I didn't spend more for a self propelled, which would have been silly. This thing doesn't weigh much at all, you can lift it one armed by the handle and everything. The experience was pretty great. We're deep in our dry season and it's getting quite hot here so the grass is pretty sparse, not a challenge for it. BUT, the ditch was really overgrown so I had to do about 30' of 1' tall thick weeds and grass. I noticed that when it got loaded down, the RPMs went up about double to compensate. That's a neat touch. It cut right through that mess like butter, and took out some other thick, heavy weeds like any gas mower would, no problem. And it was silly easy to push, really no big deal. As I said, I took to one arming it and jerking it back and forth like a toy, and my dominant arm has a tendon injury near the elbow so I should be in a lot of pain from doing that but I'm really not. It's a pleasure to use, does great. The area I cut was just about 3000 sq feet, mostly sparse grass with the really thick patch in the ditch about 30' x 5', and a couple other small patches of thick weeds. I cut the whole thing set to mid height, I guess 3"? The battery dropped from full charge to about half, according to just the four LEDs on it. Maybe the thick overgrown stuff took it down but that's probably something to keep in mind if you're looking at a big yard to cut. Maybe go ahead and grab an aftermarket battery just to not have delays on bigger jobs? I'm getting one of their 40V weed eaters with a 2 amp battery so I'll have that as well eventually. The battery itself was pleasantly warm after I got done. Not hot, just warm. Note, the blade housing area IS PLASTIC, so I would expect wear to happen over time, especially with like rocks or whatever hitting it occasionally. You also probably don't want to scrape too hard when cleaning it. Me, I'd use a scotchbrite I think. I didn't need to clean it because this is our dry season and only the front yard had any substantial grass, so it's really just dusted with grass scum underneath. Lots of dust on the top but I don't have a hose yet so I'll let that be for now. Thoughts of the day? I'm happy enough with it. I didn't want to get a mower in the first place but my landlord dropped the lawn services off my lease so I had to do something and didn't want to get into gas mowers for a number of reasons. And my yard isn't huge, just 3500 square feet total, so there's good and then there's overkill. This is good category. Big LiPo batteries are expensive, so be ready for that when it eventually dies, but... should get some decent use out of it before that time comes and aftermarket batteries are substantially cheaper as long as you get a good one and not some POS that is rated for the moon and stars but delivers half dead swill instead. Also, here's a cheery thought - these produce power full time right out the spring terminals (2x +, 2x -) so you can do whatever you wanna do with that. I envision a nice 3A regulator assembly addon spitting out whatever voltage I'd like at that moment to power whatever I may need. Why not? 40V x 4 amp is pretty big power density, shame to let it sit there unused between mowings. Would also be neat to see if it can jump start a car, lol. Not set up for that, but I can see it being a thing in a pinch. Just don't let it crater or sit there at full capacity because neither is a happy space for LiPos. Keep it tailed off about mid if you're not going to use it. Speaking of which, after this first mowing the output is sitting at about 37.2V. I didn't think to measure it at full charge, but I can come back to that and give y'all the picky details. So yep, I like it. I think I'll like it even more when I have the matching weed eater plus battery. Summary: It's light, it's effective, it cuts nicely, its very easy to push around, mulches the crap out of the thick stuff, and I expect it to be easy to maintain. If it doesn't die in untimely fashion, I'll come back and bump it to five stars. Could do a lot worse. :-) NR417

Facil, ligero, motor no tan ruidoso
