Flying Pig High Velocity Dog Pet Grooming Dryer w/Heater (Model: Flying One, Purple)

Edit 3/6/21: I reached out to the customer service department for flying pig and spoke to them about my dryer overheating and shutting off. They sent me a brand new unit at no charge and I spent the last few weeks putting this new dryer through the ringer. I certainly made it a point to use it at least 9-10 times to see if the problem I had with my previous unit would continue and I’m happy to say I had zero problems! The air output is great and the heat vs no heat functions have been wonderful in the cooler temps. The dryer works as it should and I am happy to reassess and re-review this at the 5 stars it deserves. I’m unsure if there was just a problem with my old unit or what but I’m super happy with both my working product and the flying pig company overall. They truly stand by their product and absolutely want to see their customers happy. I am glad I reached out and I definitely plan on being a continued customer. Special shout out to Andrew who went out of his way to make sure I got the help I needed. I truly appreciate everything! *************************************** Initially I was really impressed with the flying pig dryer. The speed and ability to dry my Australian Shepherd was phenomenal. Unfortunately after about 4 months of using this (20-30 minutes at a time every other week - so essentially 9 uses or about 4.5 hours) the unit overheats and continually trips my surge protector. Both the hose and body become unbearably hot prior to shutting off. I’ve cleaned and changed the filter but the problem still persists. As a result I’m disappointed in this item considering all the good I had previously heard and now I’m out a dryer and have to purchase a new one. I would not recommend this item for purchase.

I've used this dryer for a while before writing this review. Dryer is great! I was using a hairdryer to dry my German Shepard, which worked, but took forever. Then I started looking for alternatives and found the Flying Pig. Cheaper than some other brands, but excellent performance! Quiet, too...about half as much noise as a hairdryer. Air filter is easy to clean and controls feel solid. Love the variable speed. Also, if you ever need parts, customer service and shipping are great! After doggo was sprayed by a skunk, I was flustered and accidently pulled the dryer off of it's perch in the garage. The dryer fell 4 feet to the concrete floor and broke the rear plastic piece that holds the air filter. One call to customer service was all it took...they are fast and friendly. Dryer works great even after a spill. Highly recommend this product.

TRULY THE BEST DOG DRYER EVER! I HAVE HAD MINE SEVERAL YEARS AND IT STILL WORKS LIKE NEW...AND I USE IT ALMOST WEEKLY WITH MY DOGS. I HAVE A BERNESE MT DOG, A LANDSEER NEWFOUNDLAND, AND TIBETAN TERRIERS SO THICK HAIR IS A BIG DEAL FOR US! I DECIDED AS I RETIRED THAT I WOULD DO MY OWN GROOMING LOL AND MY PREVIOUS GROOMER RECOMMENDED THIS DRYER. WOW THIS DRYER IS TRULY A WIN! THE PRICE IS MORE THAN WORTH IT! IT HAS A HIGH OR LOW INTENSITY, WHICH IS REALLY IMPORTANT WHEN U HAVE NEW PUPPIES AND WANT THEM TO GET USED TO IT AS WELL AS COOLING OR WARM AIR, WHICH AGAIN MATTERS BECAUSE HAIRY PUPS LIKE MINE IN THE SUMMER DO NOT EVER LIKE WARM AIR BLOWING ON THEM. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS DRYER, NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL.

Yes it is loud, but you can lower the air volume which makes it quieter. We use full open when drying his body and then turn it down half way to do his face and ears. It cuts the drying time by half.

I needed something that would help blow out the thick undercoat of our Australian Shepherd, and also help with getting him dry after bath time. I had this little dryer in my wish list hoping my husband would just buy it for me, it is a bit pricey and I wasn't sure I really needed it. Well after the last grooming session (comb, comb, brush, brush, comb, comb, and repeat), I bought it. When I received my dryer the first thing I noticed was how small the dryer was, it is very compact and easy to maneuver, which is wonderful if you are going to spend an hour or so grooming your dog. I plugged it in and turned it on low to see how it worked,... if you do this in the living room you will quickly see how many dust bunnies have escaped your last session with the vacuum cleaner. At the highest setting dust, knickknacks (oops), and the Valentine's Day cards that were still sitting on the bookshelf went flying across the room. Wow this little dryer is powerful!! One of the cats refused to come out from under the bed for a few hours after seeing the tornado in the living room! The dryer has a very strong plastic odor which I am hoping dissipates soon. There are two filters, one already installed in the back of the dryer, and one extra. The hose seems to be very well made connecting easily to the dryer and to the attachments with "C" clips. The 'C' clips are plastic, and you have to mess with them each time you connect and disconnect the hoses and attachments. To me they feel like they could break easily if you're not careful, so I will look into picking up a few spares to keep with the extra filter in case they are needed. There is a nice handle on top and the dryer rests on four very stable legs. My dryer arrived with a tiny little scratch in the paint next to the flying pig sticker. I wish I never saw it because it's like an eye magnet now, I see it every time I look at the side of the dryer. My husband offered to scratch the other side for me so I wouldn't notice this scratch anymore,...no. :/ The controls are placed at the end of the dryer and are very easy to use. Make sure everything is off and on low, then turn the dryer on. You can slowly increase the speed of the dryer by turning the little knob. If you want heat there is a toggle switch for low, high, and off. High heat feels very warm, almost hot, so you really need to monitor the air flow while using so you don't injure your dog. This dryer works great for drying and fluffing our dog after a bath. It really does cut down on the time spent drying and makes grooming so much easier. Before I bought this dryer, while I was still researching which one I wanted, I watched quite a few YouTube videos on how to use a HV dryer to blow out the undercoats of dogs with double coats. On some of the videos you could really see the fur fly! This little dryer does just that, I was able to remove all the dead hair that was caught up in our dogs coat. I really wish I had discovered one of these dryers years ago when we had a Chow/Akita mix dog! The cord is nice and long so I can use this in the backyard after bathing the dog. Very happy with this HV dryer! 4/11/18 - Our Australian shepherd is no longer with us but we still use this dryer on our two great danes. They have short hair but do still shed quite a bit. After baths we use a towel for around the face and ears then the dryer takes care of the rest. We are able to wash and dry two great danes in under an hour! This dryer removes dead loose hairs from their coats leaving them clean and shiny. We've owned this dryer for a little over two years and it has not failed us yet!! Wonderful little dryer that I would replace in a heartbeat if it ever died in us!

I needed a dryer super fast and this dryer was an over night, my big $800 dryer finally burned out after 8 years, so after looking for hours I saw this little cutie, and I really like it, I like the fact I can control the speed which makes it nice for the older dogs who have panic attacks over the dryer, and I can turn the heat off or on for faster drying, it works pretty good on the heavy coats, it takes a few minutes longer but it does what i need it to do. The reason for 4 stars is i have to clean the filter just about everyday, but other than that, I would buy another one if I needed to.

My 12 year old German Shepherd has gotten to where when its time to shed her dense undercoat (Spring) it tends to get impacted. Even with a good shampoo and conditioner, combined with undercoat brushes, slicker brushes, dematting combs and a furminator, nothing was removing that wooly bushy undercoat. I'm sure it was making her miserable and with Summer approaching I knew I had to do something. I even tried our leaf blower (which she actually loved...probably felt good against her itchy skin) but it didn't really remove much. So, I went ahead and bit the bullet and purchased the Flying Pig even though I only had $220 in my checking account at the time. It arrived the next day and I immediately unpacked it to try it out: It was amazing! Its not even that loud. I put it on the highest setting, put on the round nozzle that concentrates airflow and started blowing out her coat. It was like peeling an orange. Huge tufts of impacted undercoat were just flying out and peeling off her. Tufts I'd been trying to remove for weeks with little progress just blew right out. And this was without doing a shampoo and condition first to loosen any fur. It look about an hour of drying (it should be noted the air does warm up a little due to the motor even when you dont use the heat feature, but seeing as it was a very cool day my girl didn't seem to mind at all.) I'd say about 95% of her undercoat came right out after that first use, not to mention a shocking amount of dander. I should've worn a mask, my entire face and arms looked like they'd been dipped in chalk dust. She didn't even really require any brushing to remove leftover hair. She went from feeling like a thick wooly sheep to a silky soft dog whose fur you can easily run your fingers through. I can tell she feels better, and bonus, there's way less furry tumbleweeds being left all over the house. I actually use the blower everyday when I take her out for her morning pee. I changed to the wider flatter nozzle and give her a quick 1-2 minute little blowout. She really seems to enjoy it. So, if you're on the fence, just get it. Trust me, its so worth it.

I researched dog dryers for a long time. I pulled the trigger on this Flying Pig due to the glowing reviews. There are cheaper dryers out there, but I wanted a more quality unit with a trusted company. We have two Siberian Huskies. The male has a very thick double coat and our female not quite as thick. It used to take us about an hour with a household hair dryer to dry our male. This machine cut that time in half! We used take the male in for grooming, but his attitude has gotten him barred from coming back. Hence, the reason for buying this dryer. I did have the same issues as others when I first used it with the collar clamp not quite wanting to hold, but it's been fine since. Just make sure it's clamped properly. You could put a piece of electrical tape on it if you have issues. I did call customer service after the first use as the dryer just wasn't getting as hot as I thought it should. Customer service was great and offered an exchange right away, however, I told them I'd conduct more testing with the unit. My Thermapen was only reading about 115-120°F at the hose end, where our home hair dryer was more like 150-165°F. Customer service advised the unit is rated for 80-160°F, but not at the end of the long hose. A lot of heat is lost. Regardless, the unit still gets warm enough to dry a large dog. Noise wise, on high, it is fairly loud, but not too bad. It doesn't bother our male Husky at all, but then again he doesn't even move for the vacuum. Our female is sketchy of loud noise, but tolerates the dryer as it's not as loud as our vacuum cleaner. The hose is so long that just being a few feet from the unit cuts down on the noise. Overall, I'm very happy and impressed with the quality of the dryer and Flying Pig's customer service. I highly recommend!

I bought this grooming dryer about 5-6 months ago and waited to write a review based on my experience with it. I have a standard poodle and I do his grooming at home every 3 weeks. In order to achieve a professional grooming, his hair must be completely flat and full of volume: this can only be done with a powerful dryer. THIS IS THE ONE! Max air, max heat, and a super dry and ready-to-be-groomed poodle! Both nozzles have their specific function and I use it as recommended: the round one for the body and the flat one for head, ears, tail and bottom part of the paws. I also like that you can adjust the heat level as you need it. The dryer itself starts with a low noise level and becomes louder when you increase the air level. My poodle and I both wear ear plugs so we are comfortable for the whole drying session! The hose can also seem a bit short for some people. It expends up to 10 ft when you put the dryer on, meaning that the dryer has to be close to you so that you can easily reach every single spot. Personally, it is not a problem for me, but it is to be taken into consideration with regards to your grooming space. Finally, a major good point for this dryer: Flying Pig Grooming sells replacement parts! Overall, I am really impressed with this dryer and only wish I had bought it sooner!

We were replacing an older metrovac that finally died. This one is easily as good, and a little less money. It does an amazing job even on our German shepherd. Is variable speed so can easily do small dogs too. Seems sturdy and good quality, so I expect no problems, but, time will tell.

Did my due diligence on choosing a dryer because of the investment price. This dryer was recommended by multiple dog groomers on youtube as an excellent choice for home use. I can attest to the excellent quality of unit, the hose is sturdy and pliable, and attachments are great. Noise level is in accordance with the power of dryer. I use the dryer in a medium sized bathroom, and when using the highest settings it can be loud, but not acceptable or unexpected. My two large poodles look awesome after using this dryer. Both dogs have been professionally groomed and are used to the process. Therefore they were okay with this dryer's sound, heat, and high air flow. Purchased the pink version mid November 2023 and the price I paid was better than Black Friday deals. Bonus - it arrived earlier than expected. All around positive experience. Highly recommend - solid choice!! Stop procrastinating like I did - you and your dog(s) will benefit from having this dryer.
