Sena Universal Helmet Clamp Kit for CB/Audio of Honda Goldwing (20S, 20S EVO, 30K)

Many other reviews address the sound quality of the Sena product(s). I agree that it is excellent. However, when I was searching for a solution for my needs, I couldn’t find a definitive answer to the question of whether this set - without a Bluetooth unit attached - would work with my 2003 Honda Goldwing GL1800 factory wired sound system. In fact, I spoke with a support person at a well-respected online retailer who told me “this set won’t work without a Bluetooth unit attached; it is just a pass through.” Fortunately for me, he was wrong. I just want to make it clear - this set DOES work with the factory Goldwing audio system. If you want to plug in to your Goldwing’s audio cable, this set is all you need. I can’t speak to it working with the CB because my bike did not come with a CB unit installed. The radio, aux input, intercom DO WORK with this unit. When I was unsure whether it would work, I ordered a unit from iMC Motorcom USA specific for the Goldwing for my daughter’s helmet. With her system plugged into the passenger cable and my Sena system plugged in to the driver cable, we can each hear the radio in our helmets and speak clearly to each other through the intercom. If you want on-bike audio/intercom utilizing the (non-Bluetooth) factory system of the Honda Goldwing GL 1800, this Sena unit is all you need for each person. (I also encourage you to check out the other unit I mentioned above - it is likely cheaper and works great, as well. Use their website. They have friendly and helpful customer service, as well, though you have to be patient for a response.)Like I said, I couldn’t find a review that addressed this question in my search and the experts I turned to gave me bad info (I had already ordered on AMZ when I made that phone call!). Let this be clear and definitive for any who are looking for the solution I was after! Enjoy the ride (even more with clear and easy communication/audio).

Sound quality is good, could be better. Used on open face helmet riding Harley Triglide

Ordered off of Amazon, when I received it I installed it an the first thing I noticed was that while putting the foam piece over the speakers, they practically disintegrated in my hands. So, I installed without it. When I tested it out, the microphone barely picks up a voice. speakers work ok, but the mic is almost dead. For what it cost, the quality was disappointing.

With the GW moving on to BT, I suspect that these wired headsets are only going to become rarer and more expensive. This model works, but was quite difficult to install. Major stars lost for the complete lack of installation instructions - thank goodness I was replacing another Sena installation, so I could figure it out on my own. The item does the job, but fits poorly and isn't very loud, even w/ speakers pushed out w/ extra cushions to get it in contact w/ my ears. I'm satisfied, but barely...

I install the unit and it worked fine until today; unit would not play sound using the supplied cable. Unit worked fine for half of my ride today and when I connected back into my helmet to ride home, no sound. I tested unit with my Sena 20S and it works but since I need the CB function with the cable, it's a waste of money. I will try to contact Sena Customer Service to see if the unit can be fixed or replaced.
