The best watercolor paints
These are the best quality watercolor paints for professional and starting newly watercolor artists. It pays to get the best the first time. Easily thinned, colors stay vibrant

Pretty but challenging
The color is exactly what I was looking for, but unfortunately I was so excited about the color that I really didn't look into the characteristics of this paint. I started swatching it out and found it very difficult to work with. It's very transparent, and I found it impossible to get an even wash. It's very blotchy whether doing wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry (though slightly better results with the latter). When mixed with other colors, it is also the most granulating paint I've ever worked with. You can see the pigments separating as soon as you apply it to the paper. Some artists love granulating colors, but unfortunately I don't. Sadly not sure how much use I will get out of this.

Always Ooozes and wastes paint
Daniel Smith is a lovely paint with wonderful selection of colors, HOWEVER, every tube every time it’s opened wastes gobs of paint by overly oozing out in gushes. The pigment itself is fabulous but I am disgusted with the amount of constant waste that seemingly cannot be avoided every time it is uncapped. Not inexpensive either.Too many other great brands to mess with this any longer.

Excellent quality - exceptional value
I like Daniel Smith watercolor paints - I have used their watercolor paint for several years - they are excellent quality

Poor quality
The paint has a heavy mix of not-water soluble yellowish substance (gum arabic?) that makes it sticky and almost unusable for the watercolor. Not sure if it is the paint was made or if the tube that we received is old.

Once I was Blind, Now I can See
I always used watercolor markers or cheep watercolor sets. I didn't think premium water colors would make a difference but I wasn't able to reproduce the subtle qualities in watercolor paintings that I admire until I ordered a few of these (which later turned into ordering more than I could afford). These colors puddle beautifully, blend brilliantly and create the granulated textures that you can't achieve with low quality watercolor. I still use the markers, however, to accent or darken certain areas.

Cobalt teal blue - the essence of many a watercolourist!
Cobalt teal just makes brings a little more joy to my painting. I e never seen a colour like this one, and happened to buy one more, since I had kept it in a safe place, and that could be dangerous. So I just got amazon to send me one more!!Can't do without Cobalt teal blue!
