I live in a basment thats can be very cold and damp during the winter and hot, humid and stuffy in the summer, I do have windows but because the house in located in the woods; opening the windows can let some very nasty spiders, ants and bugs in. To keep it cool in the summer, i do have an ac which keeps it cool but also rather moist. a dehumidifier solves that easily but the stuffy aroma still remains. recently, i been suffering some seasonal allergies this year since the pollen has been so bad( i'm not a normal allergy sufferer) and i found some mold growing under my floor tiles. i cleaned out the mold but i really wanted something to clean out the air and make it less stuffy, i also had the worry that the mold spores were still floating around in the air causing the majority of my stuffy room problems. But, being broke, i didnt want to buy a $300 air purifier with $50 filters that needed to be replaced every 6 months. i also didnt want a cheap purifer that couldnt get the job done. after a lot of research and thought i decided that this air purifier would be the best for my situation. after recieving it and turning it on it took about 3 days for me to really notice a difference but now that its been running on low for about 3 weeks my rooms air is fresh and clean. I have also noticed a significant decrease in dust. my worry of mold spores in the air which might cause more mold problems is gone for the most part. As for the unit itself, on the first setting the noise is almost none, the second setting sounds like a low fan and the high setting is noticable but not a big problem. the unit its self is thin enough in width but its a little longer than expected in length. also what i noticed in the instructions, you have to set it at least a foot away from a wall or objects, i personally found that to be a little difficult. overall i think its an amazing product for a low budget and the little money extra i spent went a long way. my room isnt stuffy and im having an easier time with my seasonal allergies.

I will have to say this is an impressive unit. I cannot attest as to how well it actually cleans the air because to do that you would need testing equipment in a lab setting. But here is what I can tell you. It is a nice looking unit, reminiscent of a loud speaker. It has a very convincing brushed metal look to it even though the body is plastic. When I first took it out of the box I thought it was metal. It has a very simple operating design with high, medium and low speeds controlled by a rotary knob. There is a second button that allows you to turn the UV lamp on and off so you can operate the fan without the UV lamp. There are two LED indicators that are dual function which is particularly nice. The power LED indicator changes color when it is time to maintain the filters. The UV LED indicator changes color when it is time to replace the bulb. This takes any guessing calculations away. The fan operates very smooth with no strange noises or creaks. It is very quiet on the low speed. Medium and high speeds are increasingly noiser as would be expected from increased wind velocity. Changing the charcoal and hepa filters will be very easy. Bulb replacement is fairly easy too, it requires removal of two screws to replace the bulb. It is obvious that it can catch and retain particles in the air. And I can say that it keeps my bedroom fresh smelling from what I observe. I bought replacement filters with the unit to keep it at optimal performance over time. Even though I can't tell you how efficient the unit is, I can tell you that I like it very much.

We love our germ guardian! This thing cleans like no other! Super easy to use and easy filter install/change. We have tons of dust in the air in our apartment (I can dust and clean and there is a thick layer of dust the very next day) we run it on high constantly. It works amazing and it has literally improved our quality of life here. No more constant sneezing or watching particles drift through the air. We also have mold issues and this has also improved thanks to the Germ killing light. On low you hardly hear it and on high it’s perfect as white noise for sleeping. We have had it for four months and no issues at all. Filters are 27$ and last for up to 6 months I will be getting another one for upstairs and plan on always buying this brand in the future.
