Wow! These are beautiful designs and easy for the beginner knitter. I fell in love with the photographs and have made 2 of the beginning articles. I am working on my third piece-I have been ordering my yarn from Loopy Mango as well. Pricey, but such good quality. Very easy instructions with a lot of tips. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for on-trend knitting patterns for pieces that look effortless and cool, this is your book! The directions are clear and concise. With 34 patterns, the value of this book is tremendous! I highly recommend it if you love chunky knits!

I bought the Kindle version of this book, and I love how the patterns look, but the instructions lack of clarity and has mistakes. For example, the Recluse Cardigan, it doesn’t say if it is bottom up or top down, then at the back instructions it jumps from row 1 to row 11 without saying what to do with rows 2 to 10. I could deduce those things because I have experience in knitting garments, but I’m pretty sure a beginner would have troubles following the instructions.

I gave this book as a gift to my friend who loves to knit. She loved it. I may purchase a copy for myself for when I get a chance to knit. The designs are fun with a unique style that is very different and exciting compared to most of what is out there. The book includes good basic instruction that will no doubt attract new knitters to the fold. The intermediate patterns should guide beginning knitters into more difficult terrain and with this in mind, should have been put together more thoughtfully. I am an expert knitter and bought the book at my daughter's request. I made both the Urban Cowboy Cardigan and the Urban Fisherman. There are no sleeve lengths . Repetitive rows are laid out poorly particularly in the Urban Fisherman where groups of rows are repeated and if you are on row 21, for example, you have to count back from row 13 to know what the next instruction row is. A schematic would have been very helpful. Probably the most annoying is the cable stitch abbreviation that is beautifully explained with lovely photos but it is wrong. I knit and ripped it out a couple of times knowing something was definitely wrong thinking the first time it was my error. The second time I searched the errata online to find a completely different page reference and instructions, which of course made all the difference. The sweaters are lovely and will be appreciated, but even though the patterns themselves are relatively simple, the errors make the book confusing.

I was so excited for this book and while the patterns are cute I don't have $400 to spend to make a sweater. The yarn is all in the company's yarn weight which takes research and configuration to figure out how to work these patterns with other yarns. The book states that you can replace any of the yarn with "chunky wool" but that doesnt align with the needles they have selected. If you do go through the company one of the sweaters will cost over $400 with needles and yarn included. It also relies on really chunky yarn which is quick to finish but expensive and difficult to find large needles.Really sad to be this disappointed and finding out that this book is so inaccessible, because the patterns are so cute and modern.

I bought this book after seeing some of the patterns available on Ravelry that linked to it. All the patterns are lovely and I genuinely think I will make everything from this book over time. I have already made one of the cardigans and one of the hats and found them very easy to follow as a new knitter, this was my first cardigan and I’m very pleased with how it’s turned out. The book as great instructions and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes to work with chunky yarn and is looking for modern easy patterns.

Nachdem ich Loopy Mango schon längere Zeit auf Instagram verfolgt hatte, wollte ich unbedingt das Buch bestellen, da ich in der Quarantäne Stricken gelernt habe. Anders als bei den meisten Strickbüchern (die normalerweise veraltet sind und nur Anleitungen für Kleidungsstücke haben, die ich bestenfalls als altmodisch beschreiben würde) ist dieses Buch in dem gewohnten 'Loopy Mango aesthetic' gestaltet (simpel aber trotzdem modern und aesthetically pleasing) und enthält viele schöne Strickideen, darunter ein paar von den Loopy Mango Klassikern wie zb. der Cropped Cardigan. Das Buch enthält außerdem Erklärungen zu den Strickbasics, welche für erfahrenere StrickerInnnen wahrscheinlich eher uninteressant sind aber das Buch sehr beginner-friendly machen.Allerdings ziehe ich einen Stern ab, da bis auf den Intermediate Teil fast alles nur Beanies, Schals oder andere kleine Projekte sind (zb. Schlüsselanhänger und Hundeleine). Deswegen wahrscheinlich auch das Statement 'pieces you can make in a day'- für meinen Cardigan habe ich jedenfalls definitiv länger als ein paar Tage gebraucht, zum Teil auch weil ich mich zuerst an die riesigen Nadeln und Wolle gewohnen musste. Ich hatte vielleicht falsche Erwartungen, da ich Loopy Mango besonders wegen ihren Pullis und Cardigans mag und daher von den Beanies etwas enttäuscht war- Allerdings ist dieses Buch besonders für komplette Anfänger gemacht ist und somit ist die Wahl überwiegend einfachere Projekte zu inkludieren nur passend. Generell sind trotzdem alle Kleidungsstücke sehr schön, und ich bin froh, dass ich dieses Buch bestellt habe. (es sind auch trotzdem genügend Pullis etc. drin, bestimmt über 10)Zu beachten: Ich wollte schon seit ich die ersten Loopy Mango Stücke gesehen hatte selbst mit dicker Wolle stricken, und dieses Buch sollte ein erster Schritt sein. Man sollte aber bedenken, dass sich der 'big yarn trend' bei uns noch nicht wirklich so durchgesetzt hat wie in Amerika. Da ich logischerweise keine Wolle aus den USA bestellen wollte und somit die Wolle von Loopy Mango wegfiel, musste ich nach einem Ersatz suchen. Das war schwieriger als gedacht, vor Allem da ich bestimmte Farben wollte. Ich habe nach längerer Suche auch passend dicke Wolle gefunden, allerdings hatte diese dann andere Dimensionen als die Loopy Mango Wolle, was wiederum beeinflusst wenn man etwas in dem Buch strickt. Es gibt eine ganze eigene Section am Anfang, in der Oejong Kim über 'Yarn Substitution' spricht, und erläutert wie man alles richtig berechnen kann. Ich will nur zu Bedenken geben, dass das vielleicht zu aufwendig für Manche sein kann, oder zu kompliziert für komplette Strickanfänger die womöglich keine Mutter oder Großmutter mit Strickerfahrung als Hilfe zur Verfügung haben.Alles in Allem ein wunderschönes, mit Liebe gestaltetes Strickbuch, dass ich jedem Strickanfänger ans Herz legen kann und auch erfahrenen StrickerInnen gefallen würde. Ich habe auch schon mein erstes Stück fertig gestrickt, den 'super cropped cardigan' aus der Intermediate section. (Die Wolle ist Lana Grossa Weekend 100g 35m in der Farbe 09 hellblau, ich habe für den Cardigan 10 Knäuel gebraucht)
