Expensive, but worth every penny
This is an awesome transfer board. The gliding seat portion makes transfers much easier, especially if you are going slightly uphill. These suckers are expensive, but I think they are worth it. As a side note, a few of the rehab centers/nursing homes we deal with have never seen these before, which is mind boggling. If you have a loved one in a care center like we do, buy one of these and have the therapists work with it.

I have my 94 year old father living with me. He has become very weak and can no longer stand on his own. To many times we almost fell trying to do it on our own. This board is the BEST thing that I have purchased thus far to provide for him saftly. It does take time to learn how to use it, but once you get the hang of it, you will wonder why you waited so long.

Difficult to Use
This is very difficult to use and you have to have someone there to work the board with you. To get off of the board you must be able to tilt all the way to the side and hope you or someone to assist you to get the board out from under you then you need to be able to reposition yourself so you are straight in the device you transferred to.

This was a great help in transferring my husband from one place to another compared to straight or other curved boards. He is completely dead weight and very hard to maneuver

Patient transfer unit
I tried to use it and it really didn't help at all. I would not buy as to use safely would require two caregivers.

Not for the completely dependent
Nicely crafted piece of equipment, but unfortunately not right for my needs. My mother is paraplegic from a recent SCI and also flaccid on the right side from an old stroke. I bought the BeasyGlyder thinking I could use it to get her from the wheelchair into the car. Unfortunately, it is simply inadequate with a person who cannot help. Granted, I did not take the time to get used to the product, but I don't think that would have helped. This would be great for a paraplegic with full upper body strength, who wants a board they can use to remain independent. For anyone incapable of sitting stably upright on their own, however, any transfer board is not a great option. We have now moved forward with a vertical wheelchair lift and transportation in wheelchair accessible vehicles instead. Thankfully, I was able to return it with no problems other than I threw away the box. I wish I had kept it, because this is an odd-sized object, and I had to fashion my own box to return it.
