great option for a great price
The media could not be loaded. I've had this laptop now for about a week and I've used it for a few hours each day. These are my thoughts;Pros:-lightweight-very portable-great resolution-fast speeds-highly capable for its class-feels sturdy and reliable-made from strong materials-good battery life for its size-friction on the folding holds tight-cortana(voice assistant a.i)-Windows 10 is a wonderful/simple upgrade-quick connections/no fuss setting up-very user friendly-keyboard doesn't pose issues when in tablet or tent modeCons:-sound is quiet even when on max(though it does sound good so this one is iffy for me)-camera isn't great. Not huge on me but if it is for you id say its a cutoff. only goes to 720p and doesnt track motions very well-i had issues the first day with multiple things including random power offs, screen not turning on,, touch not working and the mouse not functioning or even appearing on the screen. but after that first day ive had no issues at all and actually would recommend this laptop.

The philbook is nice ... but ..
The laptop/notebook is great .. its fast, and has all the bells and whistles! The charger for it is a deal breaker if you want to travel compact. Its huge (bulkier than a mouse), and the metal plug prongs do not fold in ... very awkward if you're travelling.I have a separate mouse pad/case to reduce the notebook footprint. It cannot fit the charger as well. It will take another case to house it.I reached out to Xidu for a better solution, I got a link to buy an additional (identical) charger for $19.99 .... crazy!

Definite Quality Control Issues - Feel is Hit or Miss
If it had worked, it would have been a pretty decent little computer. It was not the fastest thing in the world, but had decent specs and the build quality felt fairly solid. However, there were two issues. The mouse/trackpad was dead out of the box, meaning I had to return the unit. Second, the keyboard, though it worked, was pretty marginal. It clattered and generally felt cheap. The main issue is that you can buy a refurbished laptop from a more know manufacturer (I replace this with a Dell Inspiron 13 7000) for the same or slightly more cost, and end up with a much more satisfying product.

Too early....
It's just too early to give a review. It takes time to know how things will go with a computer of any type. All seems to be ok so far, but that's all I can say. So the 4 stars that I give it now aren't based on much. (By the way, I was first sent a laptop with a cracked screen. That was immediately sent back and replaced with an intact model.)Several days later: I have to amend my first review. It was too early for me to review. Within a few days of arrival, the laptop went haywire. The screen went wonky, fluctuating between black and white, and color vertical lines and the regular screen. I desperately tried to remove my personal information from the computer for the short times the screen was normal. I was not successful in doing that. Amazon has been very helpful in trying to deal with this. But, unfortunately I can't recommend this laptop.

High hopes, low reality, & be careful how you return it...
The mixed reviews also had tips on increasing performance, and I really wanted to like this laptop. Sent the first one back, which was shipped like an open box careless return, dented and not even in a baggie, just a useless strip of bubbles, no product wrapping whatsoever. It had to be a mistaken, accidental 'renewed' shipment right? Not an attempt to pass off a used product and let it get scratched and dented on purpose? I've n.e.v.e.r seen an Amazon Prime product in worse condition. I didn't even try to turn it on, just started the return/replace process - I chose replace, and took it to the closest Kohls the next day.The replacement was beautifully packaged, in a custom Xidu box, wrapped in lightweight foam, with clear protectors covering the surfaces - just as most new laptops are well protected to withstand shipping. It arrived within 48 hours, looked brand new, booted quickly, and I easily went through the Windows 10 steps. The first thing I did was to adjust power/sleep settings, remove apps I don't use, and update. No problem. I rebooted and immediately started a streaming show to see how the laptop handled it. Other reviews mentioned, and I agree that the low sound volume even on 100% could be better; there's enough volume in an average sized bedroom that I didn't think that was a biggie.I was however, really disappointed that the touchpad and arrow pointer just up and quit halfway through an hours worth of an online streaming episode - and never came back.I tried reboots, mouse troubleshooting, touchpad settings, the whole time using keyboard shortcuts and arrow keys to navigate. No dice, so I performed a factory reset (low and behold, the mouse / arrow is back), which took over 2½ hours. Finally, the laptop wouldn't let me shutdown. I almost gave it another try, but decided that I don't have the time or inclination to keep resetting if something else goes wrong (I've bought renewed in the past, and always start off w/a ghost image; didn't think I'd need one buying new, even if it's a manufacturer I'd never heard of before). For the short time I used it I liked the build, keyboard layout, lightweight balance, clear screen with great resolution, and careful, sturdy, but nice looking packaging, enough so that I may try again with a different model from Xidu or other no-name or not commonly known brand (fingers crossed). The below market pricing and decent specs are really tempting, provided the laptop has a minimum of reliable performance out of the box. Finally, the options for returning the replacement unit did not include Kohls. It was either drive 1/2 hour away or a close-by locker. I chose the locker, and it's taking several days to get Amazon to acknowledge receipt of the return, which means that that balance stays on my Amazon Store card for that long length of time too.Customer service admitted via a support chat that they know the return scanned back into the locker, but warned me it may be weeks for the return to be completed via this option. Wish I'd know that upfront - and if you're reading this, please keep it in mind before you chose an Amazon Locker to return a product. It's frustrating to contemplate a fee penalty for a returned product due to Amazon's delays, on a purchase that was so messed up on arrival. Twice. Not a great way to start out the year, and an indication that Amazon doesn't mind a bit if I incur a balance charge for a product I'm no longer in possession of.
