what kind of screws does it need?

I had to search Home Depot for some that would work. 😩😩😩😩

Will this screw into mdf without splitting the cabinet? Or do I need a wood or metal base?

I'm not sure what an MDF is but I use this on an ikea small drawer table to make as night stand and I screw it without using extra material to attached it.
