I have a gold nib fountain pen which I have tried using on several different writing papers with mixed results. I read a lot of reviews on the Clairefountaine Triomphe paper which gave it rave reviews. I thought "What the heck, I'll try it." One of the best decisions I ever made. The pen just glides across the paper with no ghosting and no scratching feeling whatsoever. Even my steel nib pens write better with this paper. The rave reviews are correct, this is a fantastic writing paper at just the right weight and feel to complement my fountain pen(s). If you're looking for a excellent writing paper to go with your fountain pen, look no further. This is it.

I purchased this paper for correspondence and to send an accompanying note with items inside shipped packages. I have other envelopes for use, but it is nice that this came as a package. I was very pleased by the color and measurements of the paper. My pen glides nicely over the page. The paper is smooth, but not shiny. I specifically selected the product number (on the back of the pad, it is the Ref. #, on the Amazon details page, it is the item model number beginning with the letter C) 6120. It is a white paper, but not "bright white". Caveat: The accompanying envelopes are not the same weight, or made of the same paper. The envelope fits well with about 1/2 inch room total to spare. The label on the package of envelopes states "white peel and seal C6 envelopes." The color is a bit brighter white than the writing paper, with perhaps a slightly gray tint. For someone who is looking for a correspondence set for formal correspondence, this would be disappointing. For someone who writes casual letters and is not particular, it will work well. I bought this specifically for the paper, and I am pleased with it, so a 5-star rating is in order. I can see, however, that if someone had other intentions, this could be problematic.

This paper has a very smooth surface, and is excellent for my fountain pens. It is a crisp, medium-weight paper. It is lined, which wasn't apparent from the reviews I read (some mentioned translucent paper with a ruled surface placed behind the paper - this paper is not translucent). I can write on both sides, with zero showing-through of the ink. Of course, if your pen blobs, that might be different. Each sheet tears cleanly away from the thin strip of adhesive binding. Folded in thirds, it fits easily in a standard envelope. Some of these tablets come in a package with envelopes, so be sure which you are ordering. I haven't tried, and don't know how this paper will work with a roller-type pen. It may be too smooth to provide friction for some balls.

This is my first experience with this paper. It's so smooth and there's no bleeding.

I buy pads of this paper to give away with high-end fountain pens that I make. Although it seems expensive, for fountain pens, there is nothing better. The paper is just right: smooth but not too smooth, no edge bleeding, and no bleed-through. I wish Clairefontaine made more unlined (blank) paper products. Writing on ruled paper works fine for notes, but for correspondence, ruled pads detract much of the class and elegance from the message.

Writing paper quality is very good, however I felt that the envelopes were sub-par in comparison. The paper of the envelopes is thinner and not of very good quality, and does not perfectly fit the shape of one of the folded writing sheets.

And while it may be a bit lighter than your average paper, I love to fold it in half and create personalized note cards for any occasion. Do you need this paper? Not necessarily. But if you're looking for high-quality paper for your special correspondence, this one is definitely worth considering.
