VanDam's newly revised 2026 Edition StreetSmartยฎ Madrid maps all top attractions including museums, major architecture, hotels, key dining and shopping destinations โ all at an immensely legible scale of 1:10,000 complete with 3-D building illustrations. Clear information design allows users to read the map from three feet away and has earned VanDam maps a place in the MoMA Collection. The map includes eleven selfโguided walks through the most intriguing neighborhoods. It is film laminated, accordion folded, watered and tear proof fits into shirt pocket or purse. Coverage: Madrid Street Map 1:15,800; Madrid Overview Map: 1: 40,000; Madrid Metro Map (schematic), Centro Historico Map 1:10,000; Dimensions: 4โ x 9โ folded, 9โ x 36โ unfolded, fits into shirt pocket or purse. StreetSmartยฎ Madrid is so legible you will instantly understand how Conde Duque connects with Chamberรญ, Chueca with Casa de Campo, Malasaรฑa with Moratalaz, Parque de Buen Retiro with the Prado and Sol with Salamanca. From God's perspective to the most minute alleys our map will be a treasured companion during your stay to understand how the city functions. This new 2026 edition sports two extra panels for increased type size and a larger Metro Transportation Map covering subways, light rail and trains. Madrid is unique in many ways: It sports unrivaled collections of art treasures by Picasso, Goya, Rubens, Bosch, Dรผrer, El Greco and Velasquez to name a few. Its eclectic Modernista architecture combines French Art Nouveau, Catalan and Viennese modernism, and even elements of Neo-Mudรฉjar to create confectionery buildings. Despite a 1,200 year documented history โ it was founded by the Emir of Cรณrdoba โ Madrid has the vibe of a young city that celebrates life to the fullest. Turn a corner and new worlds unfold. Look for Cante Jondo performancesโ the original non commercial version of flamenco to discover Duende โ the man of the house as the poet Gabriel Garcia Lorca described it โ which manifests itself in the electric energy between performer and audience. Cardamomo Tablao Flamenco, Corral de la Morerรญa and Sanlรบcar are options. Spain is a country where big parts of the population donโt want to be Spanish, but consider themselves separate nations like Catalans, Vascos, Andaluzes and Gallegos. Madrileรฑos seem the exception. How ironic then that the separatist regions came to the rescue of Spainโs central social democratic government โ citing minority protections โ to defeat and keep the right-wing out of federal office. Madrid is the only European city where two top teams Real Madrid FC (the Royals) compete with its more working class cross town rival Atlรฉtico de Madrid (Los Colchoneros โโThe Mattress Makersโ) for the top crown in the Champion League and produce some of the best soccer/futbol in Europe, if not the world. Here is whatโs special among the eleven recommended walks. Modernista Walk in Jerรณnimos showcases the spectacular wealth and resulting architectural beauty of a modernism quite different from northern European sensibilities like the Bauhaus, Le Corbusier etc. Chueca Walk is the LGBTQ+ jewel of Centro filled with gay bars, tasty neighborhood restaurants and tons of style. Manzanares Rio Walk. In a feat of inspired urban planning and traffic management the City buried the major freeway bordering the Manzanares River to create a linear river park. The perfect place to beat the heat. While Madrid has enough other industry to not only be defined by tourism, itโs a good idea to go off season when temps and tourist traffic are lower. Malesaรฑa Walk is a hike through a lovely residential neighborhood with Modernista architectural jewels leading into Gran Via, the Fifth Avenue of Madrid. Shopping in Recoletos ranges from global luxury chains to the best in optical fashion. Paseo de Castellana Walk: A stroll through the spine of the city offers grand architecture, cultural landmarks and culinary delights frequented by affluent locals who live and play away from the more touristy Centro. What the Champs de รlysรฉes is to Paris, this walk is to Madrid. Arts & Letters Walk. Immerse yourself in Spanish literature and treasure the bookstores en route to Caixa Forum the art and culture center designed by Herzog & de Meuron in a former power plant. Here is Madridโs answer to the Tate Modern in London. While enjoying our eleven self-guided walks stop at any super market to see how affordable food items can be. They cost a fraction of what you are used to paying at home. A decent bottle of wine for less than 5 Euros, anyone? Get StreetSmart Madrid and become an instant Madrileรฑo! Review: Good guide to Madrid. - This is comprehensive and easy to understand. Review: A must for your trip to Madrid - A friend gave me the Van Dam Madrid map for a trip last summer, and I just bought one to give to another friend who is going to Madrid soon, since I want to hang on to mine. GPS is great for getting from one place to another quickly and efficiently, but nothing beats a paper map you can look at and understand the relationships between different sites. The Van Dam Madrid map has a wealth of fascinating detail with detailed zooms of four different parts of Madrid, as well as a map of the metro. Last summer my wife and I had an airbnb near the Parque del Buen Retiro, and i particularly appreciated the considerable detail it has about the different parts and sites in that wonderful urban green space. Highly recommended, don't go to Madrid without it. Much appreciate your review and pointing out that having curated walks can make all the difference in the success of a visit. Also, having all the data (restaurants, bars, hotels and culture hotspots) on the same page eliminates the tedious going back and forth in a guide book. Not being surveilled while you travel and the absence of ads are additional benefits. Here is the link.

Intriguing curated walks; a guide book and a map all in one.
Planning my next return trip to Madrid and this looks fantastic for everything -- curated walks, major sites, dining, & bars, etc. -- all in one place. Beats fumbling through a guide book..Definitely going to pursue the curated walks, as last time I took a wrong turn and missed important sites. Have been a fan for a long time of Van Dam's Street Smart maps; the younger generation hooked on surveilled cellphones and ads on maps have no idea how to witness the unique context of a city. But sooner or later they will have to learn how to read a physical map. Meanwhile we oldsters will smugly carry our gorgeous physical maps with us for wisdom, direction and context.

Handy accessory
Fantastic resource that helps you find your whereabouts quickly and easily and how best to reconnect to the metro line, your hotel or your last landmark or museum. Very versatile, slim and easily carried.

Bad map
Does not give entire city view but only in sections. Unreadable in my opinion

Great portable map!
This was perfect for our trip. Great to see a perfect overview of all our surroundings. Much easier than seeing it all on the phone apps!

Need a microscope to read the streets
Nice folder able laminated size, however, expected larger map to read without a microscope
