BTECH QHM07 Platinum Series Noise-Cancelling Earpiece with in-line PTT & Microphone for K1 Radios Like BaoFeng, Kenwood Radios (Includes Earmolds and Earbud, 1 Pack)

It was exactly what I needed. The components seem to be of high quality and it works perfectly with my Baofeng UV-5G GMRS radio (I imagine it will work with many Baofeng radios and possibly others that used the two-pin Kenwood style connector). Sound quality is decent as is the transmit audio. It is interesting that the inline microphone with PTT has no opening for the audio to get in and works great, so that makes it somewhat more weather proof. I like it.

This product, in addition to working, has one clear advantage over the others: the plastic base of the two prongs that connect to the radio body, is extended, so that the wire from the base CLEARS the over hang ridge that surrounds the top of the TIDRADIO 8 including the hand strap which connects on the same side. Design challenge with the TIRADIO 8 that is overcome by this BTECH QHM07 earpiece. The included ear molds might work for some people, but not for me.

Special note. When I first bought this I thought it was broke the seller quickly replaced it. I still had the same issue, would not key the radio. If you buy one of these there are no instructions. The fix is this, Press Menu, 33 this brings up the DB-PTT or Double Push To Talk. The radio button has two parts the top for your top frequency, the bottom for the lower frequency. By default this is set to ON. Press Menu then the arrow key to change and this to OFF. Press Menu again to save. So MENU, 33 DB-PTT, MENU, Arrow Key, MENU. Now the QHM07 works properly.

This headset is a great tool when you don’t want to get attention while using a radio, or when you want to monitor traffic. This works great and clear and easy to hear. The microphone picks up well.

The connections into the radio itself as well as into the speaker/mic are very poor. One touch and they disconnect. Either ear piece option is uncomfortable and unsecured in ear. Poor fit, poor quality. . Dr. M

Great simple and not too long wire like others. The shape of the PTT makes it easy to use unlike those square ones. Just make sure to separately buy a bunch of the clear parts that go to your ear if you live anywhere that has moisture in the air those won’t last too long. That’s not a product issue that’s just physics

I bought this to replace the crappy generic earpiece that came with my Baofeng BF8-HP. I like this so far, except two things; 1) The clear tubing loop that goes over your ear is just a TAD too long, so there's no the loop doesn't actually rest on the top of your ear and support the earpiece unless you configure the cord to be pulling downwards. I'm considering adding a piece of wire through the tube to try to get it to form better, but I don't know how this will affect sound quality. 2) the sound quality itself. Although this is just an issue with the acoustic-tube style earpiece in general, from my understanding, the sound quality is a bit lacking. Audio is slightly muted and not crisp compared to other styles. Not a huge deal, but a little unfortunate. Another small gripe is that there's no way to use the earbud tip in conjunction with the in-ear retainer piece, so in order to use the in-ear piece you're sacrificing sound quality and noise cancelling properties. not sure how much I care about that, but figured I should mention it. All in all not a bad product, and it's certainly light-years better than the stock Baofeng one. It's quality too, seems like it will last a good long while, and function reasonably well while doing so!

Use of this earpiece with the BTek UV Pro requires the use of a K1-M1 Adapter cord which costs more than the earpiece.
