Among most helpful textbooks used at MIT Sloan School of Management (MBA)
This textbook teaches you how to think about corporate finance, and is suitable for anyone with a very basic understanding of finance. It steps you through all the essential tools and frameworks and applies them in various example cases. It helps you build financial literacy and covers vocabulary such as bankruptcy, convertibles, covenants, debentures, etc. Each chapter starts with a story of a particular business's factors - such as how much debt a company should take on or should a company repurchase shares and for how much. The authors walk you through the logic, regulations, taxes, and implications behind the different considerations. One of my favorite aspects of the book is that the later chapters reiterate many of the earlier concepts, helping you develop a sophisticated approach to understanding and developing financial strategies. Often, I thought I understood a concept well enough, only to discover in the next chapter that there was a whole other level of comprehension that I didn't see at first!I got the Kindle version of the book, and I found the highlighting features extremely helpful, especially when I started reviewing for the course final. Also, the e-book made it easier to bring to campus without concern for additional bulk or weight to carry around. The best part is that it's now part of my permanent digital collection, and not a short term digital rental that disappears or a physical book I'll have to worry about if I have to move. The course I took was also case-based, and this book helped me develop the analytical skills necessary to tackle the various cases we were assigned. In business school, we rarely buy textbooks, but this one I recommended to my classmates since it was extremely helpful. Of all the course material I saw at Sloan, this is one of the few resources I read cover to cover and then again for the final! To Professors Weiss and Asquith, thank you for writing such a useful book and giving me the tools to pivot to a career in finance!

Real Case Studies from recent past.
Superb! I Come from non finance background and I invest in companies with good fundamentals using defensive value investing criteria recommended in The Intelligent Investor book. After realizing the need to understand the businesses you invest, I started reading securities analysis book by Ben Graham. I am glad I found this book. I find it way easier to understand because it uses the questions and answers format and interesting as it uses case studies from recent past instead of just presenting a story with facts and figures. It also opened my eyes and gave me a lot of new insights.I definitely recommend it to someone in a similar situation as mine. Thanks again for putting all your experience together for us.Nipun

Best book to understand coporate finance
I'm one of those accidental CFO. I have an engineering degree and became CFO when my family business went public. So i needed a quick course into corporate finance and luckily this is one of the dozen books I've bought in desperation and this is the best one out of all those best selling books i bought.

Great handbook to self study corporate finance
I was taught by Asquith at MIT. He is a top lad with depths of knowledge on corporate finance and many anecdotes from the heydays in the 80s. This is reflected in the book which adopts Harvard's case study method to teach the key principles required by a CFO, investment banker or a small business owner; however, there is a lot humor in the case analyses which cuts through the theory to teach you how the real world operates.
