Works better then any other toilet bowl cleaner
I've used many different toilet bowl cleaners in my day, all with very little success. Most might tint the water, keep it a bit more clean, and give it a scent. But this is the first one that actually did the job of regular manual bowl scrubbing. Our main problem is scum/mineral buildup around the water line in the bowl. I compared this directly with 3 different methods to see how well it worked, used in our main floor family toilet. 1) Drop-in blue toilet tank cleaner. This did very little to keep the buildup down. Within 2 weeks there was a noticeable line and it needed scrubbed. 2) Scrubbing bubbles automatic cleaner. This helped somewhat, but there was still slow buildup and certainly within a month it needed scrubbing. 3) Clorox toilet wand gel cleaner. This also did very little to keep the buildup down. Lasted less then two weeks. All of them did decently to keep the water looking clean and a "fresh" scent. However wasn't really what I was looking for. Now the results of this unit... In our heavily used family bathroom - this unit lasted an amazing 3-4 months before it ran out of the cartridge, and the results started to become evident. The whole time it not only kept the water/scent clean, it kept the buildup in the waterline completely gone! I did not have to scrub the toilet once or apply any additional cleaner to it at all. Gone are the days of weekly scrubbing the nasty toilet! This is truly a great product. I hooked this up in line, and in combination with ONE2FLUSH Dual Flush Toilet Conversion Kit Bonus Pack with new improved handle design, Better Fill water saving fill valve 3 St. Steel Bolts,Tank Bowl Gasket. Convert existing toilets to efficient dual flush toilets that Exceed Green Plumbing Codes. , it connected easily, and it works great. I would definitely recommend the Dual Flush kit, it saves a lot of water. So far I've only used the bleach refills, currently testing out the blue refills, and then will look at the green/biobalance to compare them all. I do have a septic tank, its aerobic and my final stage treatment before discharge is also chlorine. Still it's best to minimize the amount of bleach put in for the main tank bacteria to survive. However, the very minimal amount this introduces is not a problem (especially when compared to bleach and cleaners from everything else), and its certainly not a problem to my ground at final discharge. Just stating on how I'm not buying into their "biobalance" refill too much. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for the best possible toilet bowl cleaner out there. I can only hope the bleach refills go on sale and I can buy them in bulk, because they are a bit pricey when buying for 3 bathrooms everything 4 months.

Work Perfectly as advertised. Very easy to install.
What an easy hook up. Took me 3 minutes per toilet to install these units. They wok perfectly when you flush the toilet. Allows the bleach to coat and sit in the bowl to help with cleaning and sanitizing. I used my hot tub chlorine tests strips to measure the amount of chlorine in the bowl after a flush and it read 3 PPMโs which is ideal for sanitizing. Some people state in the reviews it had a huge chlorine sent. Thats really dependent upon your nose. lol. I didnโt notice a severe smell of chlorine. It was subtle Love these units. Keeps the bowl fresh. I still do a deep clean as needed and for sure once a week but these help between cleanings. Love them.

Decent, but plan to mod
I'm liking the look of this product so far. I just wish the manufacturer included a matching leveling clip because, like others, I ended up modifying the mount so that the tank lid could lay stable. It only takes few minutes with a hacksaw, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Works, without destroying your toilet
With experience over the years trying many different products, I've found that the only toilet cleaning solutions that are effective are those where the cleaning solution actually passes through the flush system (i.e., through the holes around the rim). The types that just clip onto the edge of the bowl are cute, but ineffective at actually keeping the toilet clean. There are many products sold that go in the tank which are effective at cleaning, however, they are harmful to the internal components and cause premature failure that can lead to leaks, and possibly property damage. The Fluidmaster system cleans effectively, without causing any damage to the toilet components. Its design is simple, yet genius. It consists of a small unit that connects onto the refill line, between the fill value and refill tube. The unit accepts a replaceable bleach cartridge and is completely sealed. When the toilet is flushed, water passes through the cleaning system, directly into the refill tube. This water passes through the flush holes and into the bowl, allowing the cleaning solution to be evenly distributed without any of the solution entering the tank. With this system clean water from the tank is used to flush, followed by the water with cleaning solution as the toilet refills. They claim that the bleach cartridges last approximately 3 months and I imagine that depends upon the amount of use. Unlike the bleach tablets you put directly in the tank which will continue to dissolve even without use (and thus the bleach content gets stronger and stronger), the Fluidmaster cartridges only get used when the toilet is flushed. This is by far the best cleaning system I've seen. It's simple, affordable, and effective. If you hate constantly scrubbing toilets, you may want to get this. We tried it in one of our toilets and it worked so well we bought three more. Oh, and if you're worried about remembering to change the cartridges, Fluidmaster has a website where you can sign up for reminders (and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to sell you the refills as well.) You can also get these on Amazon Subscribe and Save at a good price. That's what I did, so when they show up, I know it's time to change them. Also, as a side note, I did try buying chlorine tablets and using them instead of buying the replacement cartridges, as many others have done. While this option may be slightly less expensive, I've found that not to be a good option for several reasons. First, the chlorine smell is unbearable, even if I used only 1 tablet instead of two. Using bromine tablets would probably be better for that issue. Secondly, the chlorine tablets continue dissolving inside the cleaning system, even when the toilet is not used much. I had put 1 tablet in one of the toilets that we do not use much and after a week or so I flushed it and the smell was at toxic levels. I removed the cartridge to inspect and it had mostly dissolved and the fumes nearly killed me. The Fluidmaster refills do not seem to have this problem, as I've inspected all 4 of our toilets regularly while using them over the past year and find that those that are not used much stay intact, while those used more often dissolve faster. This is better as they remain effective for much longer in most of our toilets and I only have to replace the ones that are used more every 2-3 months. I'm not sure what's different about the tablets in the refill cartridges, but I've found it better to just buy them less often than trying to keep up with the chlorine tablets. I can say that our toilets do stay much cleaner using this system, so it has been worth the investment.

Great product - works well
I have these installed on all three toilets in my house. Each toilet has a different type of flushing mechanism but the Flush 'n Sparkle installed easily on all of them in a minute or so. Most importantly, the product works. Toilets stay clean for months. I find that the cartridges last longer than the prescribed three months; I guess it depends on how often you flush. I'm happy about that because it helps control the cost. You may notice a slight chlorine smell, which doesn't bother me, but I thought I'd mention it.

STRONG DANGEROUS FUMES!!!!
I purchased this product in December, but didn't get around to trying it out until last week. I noticed right away the fumes were fairly strong but I thought it might dilute or calm down in a few days so I just kept the bathroom door shut with the fan on. I installed this in the bathroom across the hall from my bedroom where I work from home. Yesterday on my 30 minute lunch break, I left my bedroom door open on accident and someone in my family used the bathroom and didn't close the door all the way a few minutes after I went on my lunch break. When I came back from my 30 minute lunch break, my bedroom was so filled with fumes that my eyes hurt, my chest hurt, and I was coughing a little after 15 minutes of being in my room. I don't have the greatest sense of smell and I have allergies so it took me a few to realize what was bothering me. I opened the bedroom window and put on my fan to clear the bedroom out, took 3 showers scrubbing myself with rough cleaning rags to finally stop smelling like the bleach, although my hair still smells whenever I move my hair(shaking my head or scratching it, because my scalp itches too). I slept last night with my head near the open window. Thank goodness I did, because I woke up with my lungs still bothering me and my stomach hurting a bit, if I had left the window closed I'm nervous that I might not have woken up. I worked for a couple of hours but apparently the corner my desk is in did not air out enough, because my lungs started burning and my nostrils started hurting. I am currently sitting in my other bathroom with the shower on giving myself a steam treatment per advice from Poison Control, when I breathe deeply and exhale I taste chemicals on my tongue and my lungs, nostrils, and stomach are still bothering me. I am going to wash everything soft in my room, I think the fabrics are holding in the smell. But please be aware that ONLY 30 MINUTES OF COLLECTED FUMES has caused me all these problems. Ps. I have stomach issues and a low flow toilet so I while I knew there would be some fumes from the product, I was willing to try anything to avoid having to scrub the bowl all the time, plus most reviews said the fumes were minimal. The product did help keep the bowl clean for the week it was installed.

COMPARISON OF TOP THREE BRANDS
I am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I've bought here on amazon: Fluidmaster : Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom. Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled. NeverScrub : Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom. Kaboom : Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap. No odor noticeable in the bathroom. All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed. Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap: Kem-Tek 177 : The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor. Spa-Kem 267 : The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor. Tropi Clear : The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor. Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell. Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267 ) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.

MAINTAINS a clean toilet for 3-4 months except for Mansfield toilets
I installed 4 of these this past June in my home and my parents' home. These are replacements for older Kaboom toilet cleaning system that started to leak (again) The design and the quality of the plastic on this Fluidmaster system is MUCH better than what I had been using. I did get 4 months use on one of the toilets, another is still going on 4 months into the 5th month so how long they last will depend on how many times you flush them and maybe how many gallons of water each flush uses too. Mine are 1.6GPF American Standard and there are 2 people in the home. If you have more people, they may not last as long, but they are still worth it though!! I did not take a brush to either of my toilets once during this time. I did not have to as they were CLEAN and I have a water softener which helps too. You DO have to scrub your toilets clean before using this. This system will MAINTAIN a clean toilet. Do not put this into a dirty toilet and expect it to clean the dirty toilet for you. Being one of my cartridges is done, I will attempt to take it apart and 'refill' it myself with my own bromine tablets. IMO, it's worth a try being I already have a spent cartridge and some bromine. Updates on that coming soon. If my own attempt at rigging a refill does not work out, Fluidmaster refills are cheap enough for a 2 pack which would last 3+ more months in my home. For my father's toilets (Mansfield) that are 1.6gpf, one cartridge almost lasts him 1 month. BUT, his toilets use way more water than they state, they are filthy, inefficient and impossible to clean toilets that are poorly designed and should be banned from American households. There are 2 people in his household so the reason they don't last long there is because of the crappy toilets. Update on me opening these cartridges.... I was able to, but I can't find bromine the correct size to fit inside. Clorox is too big. I don't mind buying the refills for my home, but for my dad's inefficient and poorly designed Mansfield toilets, we have him on subscribe and save with monthly deliveries. It does not bother him to spend $10ish a month to keep his water wasters.

Too expensive - specially the refill, but works like wonder. This is not suitable for use in Indian Flush system as the overflow pipe is usually not available and I had to modify the same to get it working.

Easy to install.
Bought two one for upstairs and one downstairs all the water runs though the tablets and helps keep the toilet clean. This is not a replacement for cleaning your toilet, you still need to clean it.

Excellent system, expand for 3mo update and cheap refills
This kit is not readily available in Canada, but fortunately Amazon vendors sell it at a reasonable markup (considering it is shipped from the USA). It's an excellent automatic toilet cleaning system as it does not damage the rubber seals in your tank with chlorine (my Toto tank actually has an explicit warning stating not to use chlorine cleaners). It "splices" inline with fill hose so that the bleach solution bypasses the tank altogether (via the overflow tube) and fills your bowl after each flush while the tank is refilling. Installation is very simple, and the bracket is plastic so you can trim it to fit your tank if necessary. Ensure your tank lid seats fully to reduce flushing and filling noise. It functions as intended but I cannot assess effectiveness yet - I am hoping it either stops or slows the growth of the pink bacteria ring. There is a faint chlorine smell when you first lift the lid, but nothing too offensive IMO. The water level in my bowl has not changed. 3 month update: True to their word, the original chlorine tablets have completely dissolved after 3 months. This is on the primary toilet for two adults. I have not had to clean my toilet for the same period, and there is no pink bacterial growth whatsoever. This is an excellent upgrade as I was cleaning our toilet every 2-3 weeks due to the ring of pink bacteria. Refills: The replacement cartridges are not readily available in Canada but you can replace the tablets yourself with 1" tablets. To gain access, you can pry the bottom cap up off the cartridge with a folding utility knife and tap or pull the cap off. The original cartridge contains three 26x16mm (ie 1โ) tablets and each weighs 11-12g (~34g net weight). The tablets contain DCDMH, boric acid and chlorine per the package label. However, the SDS for the refills indicate that the tablets used to contain 7-13% chlorine (89415-87-2), 40-70% BCDMH (16079-88-2) and 15-40% DCDMH (118-52-5). Fluidmaster likely originally used this chlorine-bromine blend because pure chlorine may be too acidic and/or odorous, but switched to chlorine only tablets due to costs? Regardless, for cheap refills, I purchased Azur Spa bromo tabs (~$50/1.8kg or 60c each). These tablets are 30x18mm (1.2") and weigh 20g. To fit these into the cleaner, cut the "lid" off the cartridge, remove the foam piece, and drop three tablets directly into the holder (instead of refilling the cartridge) - see photos. You now have 60g of bromine (compared to 34g of chlorine) that should last longer, be less acidic and smell less. Flow has not been restricted and there does not appear to be any downsides to this, but I will provide an update if that changes. Hope this helps.

Expensive bleach refills, but great system.
Great product, keeps the toilet clean a longer period of time. However, the bleach refills are very expensive, twice the price, compared to the blue refills. And currently only one seller has them.
