Lavelle 62BP Fits Eljer Touch Flush Assembly, Red

Consumer ADVOCATE rates this product two thumbs up. This assy fits ELJER TOUCH FLUSH toilets manufactured in the late 60's and 70's. Apparently, there are quite a few still in houses. Enough, for various aftermarket suppliers to make up repair kits. Okay, here's the info on ELJER TOUCH FLUSH. These toilets had some good points, but the linkgage was not the best. The aftermarket product is worse. This assy does not include the chrome PLASTIC handle. Even back then, ELJER used fake chrome. The clip that holds the handle is subject to repeat failure. There is a brittle connector link that goes from the handle to the chain that is pictured. Most kits have those part too. Plumcraft and Master Plumber are two complete kit vendors. Now, why did I buy this assy. Okay, the stopper ball is better quality as is the plastic in the attached arm. The chain is semi resistant to Chlorine. The cheaper kits contain metal chains that seem to disintergrate in tank water that contains a chlorine treatment tab. This metal chain seems resistant. I will get back in 3 months more and verify. Why chlorine affects a metal chain is a mystery to me. I do know from personal experience having two ELJERS that chlorine tabs result in the chain breaking into ten pieces after several months. The package for this kit says resistant to chloride.

Terrible design. First of all, the chain doesn’t have any way to connect to the handle so I had to rig it with a paper clip. There just has to be a better way to do it. The chain is also very short but it does work. I had hoped that installing it would be the end of my headaches with this toilet, but no. You’ll see in the picture I included that there is a crevice where the chain gets stuck about every other time I flush the toilet. This is seriously annoying and totally defeats the purpose of having a new toilet flapper since I have to stick my hands in the water to free the chain every other time anyways. Not worth the headache, I’m sure there is a better product out there.

This was a very hard to find flapper for a very old but working fine toilet. Thanks so much for this product. I was not looking forward to having to install a whole new flush mechanism for 5x the cost!

Works really well in my strange old toilet. Screw started rusting very fast, but otherwise as expected. Fit my 1972 Eljier

Worked great like the old one. However it came with a small ball chain with now way of hooking it to the arm so I had to finagle the old chain to this new part and take the small ball chain off the new part.
