Years ago when I had my own children the hospital would give you one of these when they were born. However, now, I don't think they are readily using them... But, they are the BEST to use for difficult stuffy noses. The other (blue/small) ones do not have enough suction power. When you have a baby that is REALLY stuffy you don't want to mess with the other ones. I also do not want to be sucking through a tube of germs to unclog my baby's nose. Please buy a few to keep on hand. They are in a sterile package so if you purchase you can save them and be sure they are clean. But you want more than one. These do NOT come apart to clean. But, I have found no matter how well you think you clean these they do not get CLEAN. (I've never tried an alcohol or bleach rinse... so maybe....) If you see bad reviews on them or stories online about how someone opened it and it was full of black stuff... well that is because it wasn't cleaned good enough. Clean, clean clean. Hot water. Soapy water. Rinse. Rinse. Dry upside (nozzle down). When you think it isn't clean throw it away and get a new one. You are sucking stuff OUT of your child's nose. NOT squirting stuff IN your child's nose.

I was looking for Medline brand and my order was Medline! Ordered some more. Hope I get Medline brands again.These are meant to be used for a few days or 1 scenario of sickness. Do not try to clean thoroughly and keep using it permanently. It's not meant to be. Germs will grow inside. Still clean between each use but throw it out in a week and use a new one. These newer ones with larger bulb is great. The bulbs used to be smaller but with larger bulbs the suction power is much better. Allows to get the job done with less # of sucking.

These are much bigger than I thought they were. I asked ahead to get a measurment of how big around they are but apparently that's hard to visualize because when I got them, they seem so much bigger. I mean, 2 1/2 inches shouldn't be so big. Other than that, they will work for now but I would suggest trying to fabricate something that is a given size to better visualize it. Like next time I'll roll up some newspapaer of something to see how big it is, cuz, just wow, these are huge!

I bought these to flush out my fountain pens. The large size is nice and the tip fits all the pens I've tried it on so far, but the bulb is somewhat stiff to squeeze. It's still useful. If I were depending on it for suction, I would probably be glad for the stiffness, but in my application, I'm just filling it with water and flushing it through the pen.
