great little jack to usbc adapter!
i bought this adapter begrudgingly because my other cheaper jack to usbc adapter was causing static/fuzz sounds in my wired headphones. i didnt think buying a more-pricey adapter would fix the issue, but this one definitely did. works exactly as described and is quite durable as well. i keep it in my bag with a lot of things moving around in there constantly, and there's been no issue of it breaking so far, so im happy!

Works flawlessly for a Samsung Galaxy S21+ - wish it wasn’t needed!
This genuine Samsung USB C to 3.5mm jack adapter simply works. It provides good sound, and I am once again able to use all my wired earphones & headphones with my new Samsung Galaxy S21+. I see that many have deducted a star from their rating because they are frustrated with Samsung (either because they removed the 3.5mm jack or simply because they didn’t provide this adapter in the box with their new, highly expensive flagship phones). While I am also frustrated, I won’t deduct a star from this product because it works flawlessly. If you want to make use of a nice, wired headphone set on a newer Samsung phone, this is the product you need. I did try a couple of generic alternatives before purchasing this Samsung adapter that I will list below. Unfortunately, neither worked well when using headphones or earphones with a mic to make phone calls. Everyone I tried calling using these generic adapters reported a buzzing, hum, or some other audio defect (I heard no interference on my end – it was just on the other side). However, I didn’t return the generics because they are still useful for listening only (and I can strategically place them so as to avoid carrying an adapter around everywhere I go). If you just want a cheap adapter for listening to music, a podcast, a TikTok video, etc., the following adapter may work for you (however, keep in mind it is only about $3 cheaper than this Samsung product): USB C to 3.5mm Headphone Adapter, ACAGET USB Type C Dongle Audio Jack Converter. The following option is a few dollars more expensive than this Samsung product, but it does allow for charging while listening: USB C to 3.5mm Headphone and Charger Adapter, Sniokco 2-in-1 Type C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter and 30W Fast Charging. This genuine Samsung product does not have the audio defects during phone calls that the above two generic offerings do. Basically, this Samsung product gets a full 5-stars, but Samsung customer care does not! If you are in the market for new wired earphones anyway, and want to go directly to a USB C set that does not require an adapter, I do recommend the genuine Samsung brand: SAMSUNG EO-IC100BBEGUS Corded Type-C Earphones. Based on some reviews, make sure you are purchasing from Amazon to avoid knock-offs. I have purchased and tested these, and they work well. Of course, they can ONLY be used on my Samsung phone and NONE of my many other devices. Not to mention that every prior flagship phone I’ve purchased from Samsung included a nice set of earphones, but not the Samsung Galaxy S21! I have not been able to find USB C over the ear wired headphones. Regarding customer frustration with Samsung... I feel the need to rant, since I didn’t deduct any stars. For a few years, Samsung advertising chose to poke fun at Apple for getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jacks. Then Samsung pulled the decisively weak move of silently removing this advertising and following Apple’s lead by ridding their own flagship phones of the 3.5mm jacks. None of Samsung’s loyal customers wanted this headphone jack removal. Bluetooth isn’t for everyone, and many of us already have an assortment of nice earphones and headphones now rendered useless (for phone use). This move feels more like a cost-saving measure (for Samsung, not their customers) more than innovation; maybe it’s even an “Apple-like” push to force customers into an upgrade to Samsung’s expensive Bluetooth earbud options. Removal of the analogue jack provided no discernable gain in form, fit, or function. For example, the IP68 dust and water resistance rating of the newest Samsung Galaxy S21 (no headphone jack) remains unchanged from my much older Samsung Galaxy S8 (has headphone jack). Easier for Samsung to engineer? Yes. Cheaper for Samsung to manufacture? Yes. Responsive to Samsung Customer needs & wants? No. Cheaper for the Samsung Customer? No.

Great product but short life span for the price.
It has failed after 1 year and 3 months but this product has the best and clearest audio of any type c to aux i have bought. 4 stars, just wish it lasted longer since it is pricey.

Possible short life span**
Broke after 1 month and 9 days. Nothing seems physically wrong, just stopped connecting. Worked this morning and then 1-2 hours later, nothing. *Updated Review: Tried it again, 2 days later, and it works just fine. Not sure if it will malfunction again or if this problem will become more frequent as time passes. Hopefully it won't. (I will update this review again though, if and when that time comes.) **Final Update: This issue has happened once since, but overall works like 99% of the time. Sometimes I need to restart my phone or plug it back into the charger before reattaching the adapter (it's just the phone recognizing the USB C adapter as a USB C charger when it's not supposed to.) I'm glad to find out that this is an issue that very rarely happens.

ONLY Order "Sold & Shipped by Amazon" - MANY Counterfeits!
I own several of these inexpensive Samsung DAC/Audio dongles and find the sound is extremely good given the low cost. I've used them with smartphones, Chromebooks and even my Mac Pro desktop and they work flawlessly with all of them for both output and mic input when using a mic supplied headset. They are the best sounding of the low cost dongles out there, IMHO. So why the many bad reviews? Counterfeits, that's why! Samsung product like this one are frequently counterfeited. It's a problem that Samsung has tried to deal with but had little success. Unscrupulous people counterfeit these product because of the Samsung name. If you are going to buy one of these USB-C headphone adapters (DACs) then be sure to only buy a unit that is both sold and shipped by Amazon. This will hopefully ensure you don't end up with a counterfeit (but nothing is totally guaranteed given the huge number of unscrupulous counterfeiters operating mostly out of China). If it is a counterfeit knockoff you have no idea what type of low cost digital-to-audio chips have put into the product but you can bet they are not of very high quality. BTW, Samsung manufactures their own chips and is one of the premier suppliers of semiconductors around the world. My only compliant with this Samsung audio "jack adapter" is that the cable is somewhat thin and prone to breakage. You'll need to be careful to not put too much stress on it. However, I'm giving this product (when it is, indeed, the real deal and not a knockoff counterfeit) 5-stars even with the thin cabling. The sound is delightful for such a small audio DAC. This is coming from someone who owns lots of high-end audio equipment and knows good sound. Get this one. It's a quality Samsung product with great sound at an extremely reasonable price (~ $10). Just be careful of the massive counterfeit market out there selling defective products under established, well known names like Samsung.

One ear died after eight months
Short story is it lasted eight months. Now it plays through one ear only. Long story. I had an adapter before this that cost a lot less that was made by one of those companies with alphabet soup for a name and it lasted two months before becoming temperamental with how it plugs in. It would randomly disconnect often. I somehow made it work for about two years but man that was torture. I thought, hey let me spend a little bit more money for a quality product that should last me a lot longer. Boy was I wrong. This adapter lasted ONE month before it started having connection issues. It was less finnicky, sure, but this adapter was about three times the price, it should've lasted a lot longer than that. But whatever, I kept using it. And just a couple days ago one ear completely went out. I tried a different pair of earbuds and it's the same issue, and if I really twist and mangle the adapter cable in a very specific way it will play out the other ear but I have to hold it at the exact lateral and longitudinal coordinate accurate to 26 decimal places under conditions 0.04% greater than standard atmospheric pressure at current altitude. This adapter lasted less than half as long than some random adapter on Amazon that cost a third as much. The biggest tragedy, in my opinion, is the fact that a lot of phones simply don't come with a headphone jack. All these adapters really suck and there's no recourse. You're just forced to eat the slop these multi billion dollar corporations force feed you without any real choices. But I also seriously cannot understand why we are utterly incapable of making a little USB device that can play music through an audio jack for at least the expected lifetime of a hamster meanwhile we're able to literally split atoms and strap a huge telescope on a giant rocket and stargaze for decades. Like what is going on here?

works perfectly
I just recently tried a generic adaptor, and i can really compare this to the cheaper version. First off, the cord is thicker and feels studier. I just re-ordered and the last one i had lasted over a year with extremely frequent use - i'm on the phone a LOT for work. My favorite part is compared with the generic, there's no background hum or wind noise, so the quality of the transmission is great. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the quality and durability.

Does the job A-OK
I was a bit hesitant about buying it. It's been probably about 2 years since I bought it now and it's doing the job flawlessly.
