disappointed
I've been purchasing Dept. 56 Snow Village houses for a number of years, and giving them to a friend and her daughter. The earlier houses were wonderful and quite detailed, such as Shelley's Diner and the Flamingo Motel. In comparison, this "Detail Shop" looks kind of cheesy. I got it because the daughter loves the movie Cars and I thought it would be a nice addition to their Christmas set-up. Alas, it makes me think that the Disney license was so expensive that Dept. 56 had to really cut back on quality. Or -- even worse to contemplate -- the brand has been bought out by someone who is driving up profits at the expense of magic and imagination. I hope next year will present me with better options.
