This is a handy toy/thermometer. Some of the bad reviews on here are from folks that don't read the instructions!! The turtle will beep fast for too hot and slow for too cold. Tips: Give it time to work. You can't expect instant results. When you are done with the bath, shake out the turtle and then blow to air dry the metal part on the bottom, then it won't beep incessantly after.I am giving 4 stars became am having to buy a new one. The screen has water in it after two years. But I like it so much I'm buying it again.

Must-have baby/child item!
I use these for my kids and continue to give them as new baby gifts. This bath thermometer is one of the most useful baby items out there. Babies really hate baths if they are not just the right temperature. I was so worried about the water being too hot, that I never thought about it being too "cold" for the baby. It may feel quite warm or hot to us, but it can still feel very cold to a baby or child. This thermometer makes sure you have the water in just the right temperature range. And knowing the exact temperature can be helpful also - for example, my older child liked her bath near the top of the temperature range, but my younger child likes it closer to the bottom of the range. I can always have the perfect bath ready now. And as a bonus, it doubles as a bath toy. :-)

New parent must have
This is an absolute must have! It seriously kept my baby from having lukewarm baths his whole life! It is so hard to gauge what the right temperature is when you have a new baby! It's stressful! This has been wonderful since my guy was born and has worked great and is still working and my guy is 14 months old now. I only use it to gauge the temp of his bath and I don’t get the top part wet if I can help it. I find this helps keep it working better. Of course the top part has gotten wet a time or two, but I dry it and put it aside for the next time. I don’t let my guy play in the tub w it. I’m convinced that’s why mine has worked so well for so long.

Buy beware
Very disappointed. After combing through many reviews, many of which were mixed, we decided to try this thermometer. Dear husband was adamant to try one with an alarm after seeing the hospitals. It was supposed to alarm if too hot or too cold. It did neither of these things. I decided the alarms were not a necessity for me. However, when I went to get my daughter, somehow the water temp rose from 96 when I left to 101 when I returned. She was not happy to sit naked while I tried to remedy the burning water. Now, today, after her 4th bath, it decided to quit working all together. We replaced the battery but we got nothing. What a waste of money!

Not Recommended
This thermometer is way off. The first time I used it the temperature read 98 degrees so I placed my son in the bath water thinking it was safe. He started crying. I grabbed the thermometer I was using (a steak thermometer) pre purchase of the turtle to check the water again and the reading was 3 degrees higher. I would not recommend this item at all. If I use it at all it is for my son to play with. Waste of money as far as I am concerned.

Cute but lasted 2 weeks
I love the way this product looked it’s very cute. I bought it before the birth of my baby and started using it when my baby was born it lasted me about two weeks before it stopped working I ended up having to purchase another one from another brand shown in the picture. So value for money for me is nothing and because I bought it earlier in anticipation of my baby/ I was not able to return it or get it refund

Buy it! Not just for babies
I love this little thermometer. It works way better than that stupid rubber duck that just turns a word a different color when it's hot. This actually gives you an accurate temperature reading and will beep at you when the water is too hot and even too cold for baby. We use this for all of my babies baths and will continue to use it. I even used it when I was pregnant so I could take a bath in a safe temperature.

I was so annoyed with it I quit using it
At first I thought (hoped) I had a defective model that didn't have an off switch. I couldn't believe one would purposefully make a thermometer that beeped for MINUTES after you took it out of the water, with no switch to turn it off. I was so annoyed with it I quit using it. Until I figured out that if you vigorously shake all the water out of the base (where the thermometer is located) as soon as you remove it from the water, it will not beep. Since the beeping occurs (nonstop) if the temperature of the water is not appropriate for a child to bath in, removing it from a nice warm bath will cause the water trapped inside of it begin to cool and so it will beep until the air dries it off. But if you shake it dry as soon as you take it out of the water, this can be avoided.
