Is the soil slightly acidic? I want to plant amaryllis bulbs in this.

It is always advisable to ph test your potting mix. I do mine regularly whether it is a complete 'scratch' batch of mix that I make or whether it is a bagged product from Amazon like Black Gold. Also, I water with 1 gallon spring water and 1/4 tsp Miracle Gro Miracid twice a month and the other waterings I use 1 gallon spring water with 1/4 tsp Jacks 20-20-20. Once I started the Miracid on all my plants, they responded quickly and had a flush of growth, turned a better color of rich green, any variegation improved, and flowers became larger and more vivid in color. You do not realize the importance of ph until you see the results!

Do you mean broken, leaking holes? No, but there are tiny perforated holes from manufacturer that seem to just be breather holes too tiny to leak soil.

I keep reading reviews about insects and mold in various potting brands. Do most recommend microwave or oven before use or even opening?

Although this sealed bag of soil is probably free of insects, any soil can easily become infected with fungus gnats. I recommend sterilizing any soil before using it. It's much easier to prevent having gnats than it is to eliminate them once you have them in your potted plants. You can google how to do this correctly.
