Great sound....reasonable price!
I am not an audiophile, just an average guy who wanted a surround sound system for his man cave. I love the Bluetooth and use it with my phone all the time to play my drum set with. I also use it with my HDTV to watch movies and have been very impressed! A good test for me is watching Star Trek...the first new Star Trek movie that came out around 2008. The sound was absolutely incredible! It just blew me away! Great crisp highs and booming bass from the subwoofer. The sub also comes with a volume control, which is a nice touch. There were two things that I wasn't crazy about...1) not wireless. I was replacing a rear wireless sound system that I loved. However, I have acoustic ceiling tiles, so it wasn't a huge deal as I hid the wires easily. 2) No phono input for turntables. These audio companies are going to have to realize that there are many people out there still listening to vinyl LPs. I had a hell of a time finding one that I liked with a phono input. That said, you can buy a simple turntable pre-amp for around $12. Because these were easy fixes, I still give this system 5 Stars because it is one great sounding system for a reasonable price.

This is a good system for the money.
The receiver that ships with this system is Yamaha HTR-3068 and it is a discontinued Yamaha product. Most likely due to the fact that the people at the Bluetooth SIG have moved on to Bluetooth 5.0 e.g. iPhone 8, etc. This unit does not support Bluetooth 5.0 and as far as I know it is not upgradeable. If Bluetooth issues won't keep you from buying, it's a wonderful system for watching movies or TV. It has one HDCP 2.2 compliant input and one HDCP 2.2 Output (since everything but the DVD is "pass thru" that's probably all we will ever need). It arrived two days early (no promise yours will). It has a nice FM/AM Radio built in and comes with antennes. Here's a list of things I did to make it better: 1. Got enough 16GA speaker cable to run to all your speakers. 2. We purchased a more Powerful Sub unit (the one that came with the system is doing duty in my shop now). 3. In order to resolve a "handshake" issue with the cable set-top-box we had to go through the reset-to-factory process. 4. Set the speakers to 6 Ohm. The default setting is 8 Ohm, but the speakers that come with the unit are 6 Ohm. 5. Use the automatic speaker setup (Leave the room and keep everything quite while it's doing it's thing). 6. If all else fails: read the manual. There is Tech Support and they are some of the best. Bottom line: We have a very nice sounding system. We switch with ease from Streaming device/Cable/4k DVD.

Great Surround Sound, Can't Go Wrong With This One
I was looking to upgrade from a Sony home theater system and did a lot of research. If you are looking at this system feel confident in buying it 100%. I didn't use the wire that came with the system but instead AmazonBasics 16-Gauge Speaker Wire - 100 Feet . Sony makes great televisions but doesn't have the sound that a Yamaha has. Nice bass and has great clarity and will get pretty loud. It does come with the HTR-3068 which seems to be a wonderful receiver. Lots of different sound modes you can use too which are fun to play with. Highly recommend and don't hesitate to purchase.

Complex to Operate, but Good Sound.
Complex as heck to operate, but eventually you get the hang of it. (I have 4 remotes that have to be used and switching back an forth is a real test of my brain function. I can't imagine a techno-phobe operating this.) The remote synced with my blue-ray player, but not my TV. The sound is a good improvement over my past surround sound system and the sound quality now matches the quality of my blue-ray images. I like how you can use a special microphone device to automatically adjust the sound based on where your listening chair is. I sit in different chairs depending on fellow movie watchers joining me, so this feature is great.

Great value.
Sound is very nice. Bass is deep and rich...The only downside is the setting up the wiring which can take a little time, but this system is great and easy to use, specially at this price point. Don't go for Sony, Samsung or other brands that are NOT speciallized in audio like Yamaha, JBL etc.

All in all great, but had some weird sound issues sometimes with low bass frequencies, returned as I think I got a defective one
I really wanted to like it, but decided to return. good - very good 5.1 sound, I was surprised, considering the size of the speakers. Issues I had and made me decide to return: 1. on some movies, even though the sub is only half volume and the volume is nowhere near the max, I get an annoying crackling / speakers-about-to-explode sounds. I don't know if it's the receiver or the speakers, but it sounds like one of them is defective. It's not in all movies and not all the time, only some frequencies. This makes watching movies / shows just not fun. 2. it doesn't have a full 4k passthrough sadly, I should have read the description more closely but even though it does support HDMI 2 etc, it doesn't pass things like HDR / Dolby vision to the TV, and only 1 HDMI 2.0 input. I'm returning it due to #1 more than anything, as I can connect my devices directly to the TV/Projector and pass audio back in an optical cable, but this is just too much hassle. I ended up returning but since I loved the speakers so much, I'm taking a risk and buying the same ones but without the receiver (buying the new Sony STR-DH790 instead) - hoping the crackling / bass issue will be resolved

Great sounding surround sound for low to mid tier systems
Great sounding surround sound for low to mid tier systems. Powered sub really gives off some bass, only thing I don't like about the sub is it's got a separate power button and it doesn't appear the sub will automatically go in to standby after no sound input like most systems. The mid range speakers all sound great too. Stepping down to this from a 7.1 Onkyo/Pinoeer Magnolia system, but no one else in the house is an audiophile so I gave in and went cheap this time. Not regretting it.
