Not all chickpeas are created equal. For years, I bought the inexpensive bags of chickpeas from the grocery store. Recently, while stocking my pantry, I decided to look for a larger bag that would last a long time. I came across these and decided to give them a try. I’ll be honest—the burlap bag caught my eye and was a nice touch that helped me decide. Now that I’ve tried these, I refuse to buy any others. The quality of the chickpeas makes a big difference in the final result. The burlap bag has a charming old-fashioned feel, like buying dry goods from a neighborhood market in the 1800s. Once you open the bag, the first thing you’ll notice is how large the chickpeas are. They’re plump even before soaking. After soaking, they become even larger and cook beautifully. I prepare them a couple of different ways. When making hummus, I soak them overnight and then cook them for about 75–90 minutes. They become tender, smooth, and make outstanding hummus. When I’m using them in curries or salads, I boil them for 10 minutes, let them sit in the hot water for an hour, and then simmer them for about 90 minutes. This method leaves them a little firmer, which works well for main dishes. The cooked chickpeas are flavorful, buttery smooth, and delicious in recipes or simply enjoyed on their own as a snack. They also freeze very well after cooking, so it’s easy to prepare a large batch and always have cooked chickpeas ready to use. I also appreciate that they’re organic. From the quality of the product, it’s clear that great care went into growing and packaging them. They’re worth every penny, and I highly recommend them!

I've used these for a couple of years now. They are great and clean. Good flavor and cook well. They also keep exceptionally well in the cupboard. I like the chickpeas enough that I am looking at buying some of their other dried goods. I pressure cook them and there is no need to soak them. They cook up well, but when I do soak them they cook smoother for humus. These chickpeas create an incredible broth that is worth selling.

This is the only brand of chickpeas I buy. I also buy other Palouse brand grains and legumes. I believe their products are excellent, consistent, and worth the cost. The chickpeas are so fresh that if I let them sit in soaking water for even just a few hours, they start to "pop"-- in other words, they try to sprout! They actually do not need soaking, but sometimes I soak them a bit, and cook them around thirty minutes in the pressure cooker to get a nice, very soft bean for hummus.

Love these chickpeas. They are soft, creamy and delicious every time. I have purchased them many times. I use an instant pot to cook them and have cooked them both with and without soaking.

While these are good and non-GMO, I definitely prefer the organic chickpeas they come in the $164 bucket. They have a totally different color and texture. Well, these are adequate, the Organic version is much more flavorful. That being said, they are just as easy to prepare. They're just as clean with no rocks or anything found to my knowledge, and they roughly the same value for the money as the Organic, but they don't come in a big bucket. The reason that they store so well is because I stored them in the bucket. The organic ones came in originally.

These have been just an eye-opening level of amazement. We didn't know chickpeas could have so much flavor! The fact it's from WA, the crop data card, the whole experience has been wonderful. Looking forward to trying the other stuff!

These Palouse Brand chickpeas are the best we’ve ever had. They are the large kabuli variety, and the taste and texture is out of this world. We have ordered them several times, and this is the first time we used the seller Nelson Life. The delivery was made exactly as promised.

Unlike the Costco chickpeas, these absorb water very well and very quickly - the sign of a great dried legume. Expensive, but if you're looking for fresh chickpeas, these are really good. I'm used to a stronger tasting chickpea... I'll have to do a side x side to figure out whether these are a little less pungent than others.

These chickpeas are sooo good. They make amazing creamy, fluffy hummus too. The extra cost is worth every penny! I’ll be ordering again!

I can’t praise these enough! If you cook your own chickpeas with these, you’ll never go back to canned chickpeas. I’ve already bought two bags and will be ordering another one very soon.
