More of a deep red somewhere between burgundy and maroon. I live overseas. As such you have to keep passport on you at all times. So I’m using it to replace my wallet too. Holds 4 cards comfortably (might be able to double them up) and I’m able to put cash in where the checkin ticket goes ( 10 bills folded in half). We shall see how it stands up. Even comes in a nice box you can keep it in when not traveling.
