"Expensive" but Well Worth the Results
I say "expensive" because there are a ton of anti-dandruff products out there for way more and way less. You can go into any store and get a big bottle of something for $5. But a lot of those products have pyrithione zinc which may work for some but gives me patchy flakes within a day of use. I don't know if it's shedding the whole head before it works it magic or something but I honestly do not have the time or patience to test that out. It'd be akin to using a product that makes your face covered in acne before it starts clearing up--really? So for all I know so far, using this tea tree oil based conditioner fixes the problems within a day or two. I still have flakes but they're not patching and I can actually run through my hair without much concern. Yeah, something may fall out but that's part of life. My hair feels soft, there isn't a ton of residue or slickness left over, and you don't need a lot. I put on a bit more to start off with but ideally those with dandruff or dry scalp shouldn't be washing away their natural hair oils daily. I gladly pay the higher price for piece of mind. Others may find a different remedy works out well. This is not a flaw of a well-made product. It's not superficial to be afraid of dandruff flakes, they get everywhere and try being in public and coworkers shedding those white patches all around. Small price to pay for a pretty good boost of confidence assuming it works for you. Jack Black offers a 3 oz trial size online on their direct website. Try it out even if it costs some money for shipping (or just splurge on this and give it to someone else, it's an universal conditioner so most should be ok with it). I've bought so many other random hair care things that finally sticking to one consistent thing feels great. Update April 2025: I've been using this product on and off the last few years, most recently back on to supplement an anti-dandruff 2-in-1. That one alone caused my hair to produce excess oil and stink up so I wash using it first then with the Jack Black thickening shampoo + conditioner. I also bought the leave-in hair balm for times I don't want to double-wash. Seems to be a working setup even with longer hair that seems to flare up more than short. The manufacturer's direct website has a combo deal for the shampoo + conditioner + usable comb. Since my original review, they look to have phased out smaller trial sizes. I'm not so discerning with shampoos but I definitely take this conditioner on trips in case something triggers.

Leave it on longer for best results
I’ve struggled with dry scalp (not dandruff) since my teenage years, this is a known issue as diagnosed by my dermatologist. Symptoms are also dry inner ear and redness around the nose under the eyes. The only thing that has controlled it is H+S, but over used can cause very straw-like crispy hair, especially coupled with dry heat weather. I’ve read all there is about not washing with hot water, letting hair air dry, limiting shampoo, wearing hats and using leave-in conditioners / lotion. I’ve also tried a plethora of conditioners and leave-ins as well. My goal was to reduce the amount of H+S I use per week (preciously, I needed it every other day). Other conditioners didn’t seem to make a difference in the dry scalp condition nor make my hair look healthier and smoother. Then I read about co-washing (only washing with conditioner) and a lot of people recommend this particular conditioner for that purpose. It didn’t seem to work that well at first as i was still flaking once a week. Then I tried leaving it on for 30-40 mins until it tingles (having a shower cap will help) then washing it thoroughly. While I still have some slight irritation once every couple weeks, which leads me to using H+S every week but the dependency is much less and my hair is always silky and healthy looking. I still use H+S as a face and ear wash, coupled with a healthy intake of water and my skin and hair has never been better. While this conditioner is pricey, it is justified for skin and hair health. For co-washing, you are required to use more conditioner, instead of a quarter coin size, I use about double, and I really get it into the scalp, too.

The Perfect Partner: Jack Black Nourishing Hair & Scalp Conditioner
After having such an amazing experience with the Jack Black True Volume Thickening Shampoo, I knew I had to try the matching conditioner. And let me tell you, it does not disappoint! Paired with the shampoo, this conditioner takes my hair care routine to a whole new level. The scent is just as incredible as the shampoo, with a refreshing blend of tea tree and basil. But it's not just about the smell. This conditioner leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft, smooth, and healthy. It also continues to combat my dandruff issues, leaving my scalp feeling soothed and flake-free. Overall: If you're using the Jack Black True Volume Thickening Shampoo, you absolutely need to add this conditioner to your routine. It's the perfect complement, providing deep nourishment, amazing scent, and lasting dandruff control. Together, they've transformed my hair and scalp!

Smooth, tingly
I don't love this conditioner, but then, I don't use conditioner very often anyway. It feels nice, doesn't smell quite as nice as I'd hoped. Makes my hair feel a bit smoother after using hair gel.

Lifesaver conditioner!
Best conditioner I’ve ever used! Makes my 2A waves feel so soft and hydrated and the fact that it hydrates my scalp too is a bonus!

Pricey but worth it, luxury hair care
Just 2 uses was enough write a review. Great for dry scalp and thick, coarse hair types. Im using this daily and already noticing a difference in my hairs texture and feel it's that good. Two "quarter sized" amounts is all you need really, anything more is just wasteful as I can still feel the product all over hands after throughly massaging my hair and scalp for 2-3 min. Best to leave it in and not wash out. Very soothing and moisturizing for the scalp, many other leave-ins fail when it comes to providing that. Silicones are the key.

Entirely replaced my use of shampoo with JB
My scalp tends towards the drier side, I wanted something that would not suck the precious oils out of my scalp with a daily shower and this seems to do the trick. I have been using it alone for a month or two and nothing else. In other words, no shampoo and it has not been an issue. I even like the smell which does not seem to linger with the hair, otherwise, the sensitive nose of my girlfriend would have been an occasion for a remark. Never have I even applied a non-scented hand lotion that she can't immediately smell. So if she does smell my hair at all, it is apparently not an unpleasant smell. My guess is that it really does not leave a detectable order, at least for a human nose. For my own sensibilities, I rather like the smell when using it and would consider it a plus if it lingered a little longer. It does not lather up like a standard strength shampoo and in that regard, not surprisingly, acts like a conditioner. Perhaps that means it requires a little more than you would squeeze out if it was shampoo. But I figure if I used, in addition, a shampoo it would somewhat defeat the purpose, even if this Jack Black product was applied afterwards. I thought I would try to not use shampoo and use this as if it were shampoo and so far, it seems to be working just fine. At least so far people in town are not crossing the street to avoid me. As to the effective ability to "condition" hair, I will leave that to someone who actually has hair, compared to my sparse balding noggin.

Not worth the money
The product doesn’t match the description. It has a good smell but doesn’t have any affect on hair.

A little goes a long way
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this conditioner. Expensive, but worth every penny. Smells nice without being overwhelming, and unlike cheaper options, a little goes a very long way. 5/5

A little goes a long way
A small amount goes a long way. Nice subtly minty smell and feel. I bought this to help with my itchy scalp and I find it helps quite well used each time I shampoo, better than other shampoos or conditioners I’ve tried.
