A disappointing ending to a great series -
When I read the foreword by Mary Janice Davidson saying that this third installment would end the series about Fred the Mermaid, I was really upset. I've come to love Fred, along with her plethora of quirky friends and relatives. But at the same time, I figured this would be a really great read because I would never expect Ms. Davidson to end anything with something less than a bang. Unfortunately, that didn't really turn out to be the case with this novel. There were not nearly the number of "laugh out loud" moments for me with this story as there are with a typical Davidson read. And there were many aspects of Fred's story as a whole that I felt were rushed for unknown reasons. It is my hope that the publishing company will read some of these reviews and, in turn, encourage Ms. Davidson to change her mind about continuing this series. I feel like there's so much more that could come out of these stories, despite the fact that so much was packaged with a neat little bow in Fish out of Water. For now, I'll stick to enjoying the Vampire Queen series. But, I sincerely hope that Fred the Mermaid's tale (pun sort of intended) does not stop at a trilogy.

So sad but luv a happy ending
I really hope you have read the rest of the trilogy because it is probably not going to make much sense without it. A month before the first one came out, my ex made fun of my supernatural romance reading and would tell others I read anything from vamps to wolves ans even mermaids. At this time I said I do not read any mermaids until M.J.D. came out with the first Fred novel and quickly added a very special mermaid to my bookshelf.Love the characters, even though I was really ticked off with Thomas in book two, now that things were explained and wrapped up in a tidy bow I'm happy again. I always hope her books will be longer, but once I read her rapier whit I know I will be breaking out my wallet to pay for the next, probably before the release date.

Well done weird humor
The author has continued her series with a very good addition--sadly looks like the last. Over all a fun read with good characters and a nice ending. Not earth shattering but still good. Certainly you can hold character similarities against the author going back to the down right weird "Royal Pain" but overall they aren't enough to spoil the enjoyment of these books. The author limits herself to 2 plots (you can't really point to one and say that's the Plot, the other is a subplot) which helps her tell an entertaining and humorous story.Overall a very good read.

I really enjoy MaryJanice Davidson' books
Even though I am a guy, I really enjoy MaryJanice Davidson' books. Her characters have attitude, her story lines are filled with humor AND they keep you guessing as to "What will happen next".I can't say enough GOOD about these books, (and their author). I've purchased and read all the Mermaid and Undead series. In fact, on multiple times I've sat up all night just to finish a book.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

GREAT author!!
I love this author. This is a great series. For a romance novel it actually barely had any "love making" parts unlike several of her other series that I love. I wish she had more books about Fred or the Mermaids.

fred is the best
again, MaryJanice has written an interesting, compelling and complex book about the struggles of being not "human" vs human. Being Queen Betsy fan, I was completely enthralled by Fred and loved every word, cant wait til the next one!

Funniest Mermaid
Great book to the -possible- end of a series. I love the main character Fred, she's hilarious. The romance always gets me in these books.. in a good way. The romance isn't sugary sweet but definitely something to keep you hooked. The conflict was great and I would actually read this series again.

Guter Schluss!
