Garage Sales 101: Turning Trash to Cash Paperback – March 3, 2012

Quick and easy to read cover-to-cover, with some good ideas on signage and extras for bringing the hordes in. Although I believe it was written for a British audience (?), our version of the "sausage sizzle" didn't really go over that well; at least not many of our neighbors took us up on free sausages at 8 in the morning... Good organizational methods; well-worth the price!

Although I had heard some of these suggestions before, some were new and/or unexpected. I didn't have enough time to follow through on everything but used what I could and I believe it helped.

I really enjoyed this book. She has a lot of really good information for someone who wants to have a garage sale. I would recommend this book to everyone interested in having a garage sale.

Not worth the price. Nothing a logical person doesn't know. Sorry I bought it. It was thru an electronic device. I can't resell it :(

I love garage sales - I've done a few and I wish I'd read this book before doing the first one that was absolute chaos. This is a great book telling you all you need to know to hold a successful sale. It covers the preparation (yes, you need to do some!), when and where to hold the sale, how to advertise it, advice on pricing so you don't get carried away, how to deal with hagglers and traders, and what to do after the sale with the unsold stuff. It's very comprehensive and should inspire you to get rid of that clutter you've got laying about.It's full of practical advice and things you might not think of, such as offering coffee and nibbles, making sure you've got enough change and smiling! Well worth a read.

I love going to garage sales and have been thinking of having one of my own while sorting through all my stuff this Spring. I've never actually done this before so I was having a lot of questions about the actual process and how to be the most successful with it. I came across this book and it covers all the basics and pretty much any question that I had. The book covers 3 main sections including the Preparation phase, what to do the day of the sale and also what to do with the items after the sale. Very comprehensive and well written.

If you are thinking about running a garage sale then this is the book for you. Written in a very readable style the book felt like I had an experienced guide talking me through running my first sale over the kitchen table.Reading this took away all the apprension, everything is covered from planning to dealing with traders and haggling. The underlying message is that garage sales can be fun as well as a good way to earn some extra cash. I'm off to start planning my first sale.
