Work great for me.
I have had great luck with Roche products. For years I used the Aviva Plus meters with few problems and great manufacturer support. When they were discontinued my insurance suggested another meter. I ordered one and it did not support alternate site testing. I contacted Roche and found this Guide Me meter does support AST, but you do have to contact the manufacturer to receive an AST cap for the lancing device. They supply it at no cost, but you have to wait a few days for it to arrive. The lancing device is the same โSoftclixโ as the Aviva Plus meter. The meter is pretty easy to use, but does seem to time out if I take too long to get a blood sample. The required sample size is very small. I saw that some other reviews mentioned the hard sided plastic case. I did not like it either after struggling to open it and finding it was upside down, and spilling the contents when I finally got it to open. I cured that problem by using a silver metallic marker to write โOVERโ on the bottom. After using it for a few days I became accustomed to it and actually ordered another meter BECAUSE it included the case. I prefer the older larger test strips and their container because my 73 year old hands donโt have the dexterity to easily handle the smaller strips and containers. But I do see the advantage of the much smaller case.

This works quite well for diabetics. It also keeps a record of your past numbers.

Deceptive packaging, if you ask me.
I bought this as a backup meter in case the one just like it I use fails or I forget to pack it when taking a trip. This one will be in my suitcase, ready to go. From the picture, of the box, it would appear that it contained one meter AND a package of testing strips. Whether it's deceptive advertising by Roche Co, or by Amazon, I don't know. What is specifically NOT in the listing is an image of the side panel showing what IS in the box. The implication is there's a package of strips included, but they are not. It even states in the gold bar near the bottom: "Quick easy testing at a low cost + Spill-resistent Smartpack Vial". So, if you're looking for strips and a meter at a good price, this isn't it! What IS in the box is: 1 meter with batteries installed, 1 FastClicks lancing Device with 1 'drum' of 6 lancets in a separate wrapper, 1 plastic carrying/travel case that I find difficult to extract the meter from, and 1 set of printed instructions, etc. There are ZERO strips inside the box, despite a package of 50 of them is clearly shown on the front of the box. Oh, and there's a peel-off coupon on the side of the box opposite the contents listing to be given to your pharmacist to guarantee specific pricing for the strips...50 for $20, 100 for $30, 200 for $50, etc. Anyone can get better prices for the strips here at Amazon. I'm happy with the Guide Me product, though. And not having to fiddle with individual lancets and their safe disposal makes testing safer, faster and easier to do. Even the 'drum' that goes in the 6-shooter style lancing device is seemingly impossible to get accidentally 'stuck', both before and after being completely used. Say goodbye to your 'sharps' bottle!
