I'm looking for a good ballpoi t pen that doesn't smear. are these gel or ink??

These pens are disaster. They use some kind of liquid inc, which bleeds through even 32lb semigloss paper. I promptly threw them away. After years of experimentation, I found Uniball as the best Ink pens and Pentel the best gel pens.

In the photo, the pens look so long and slim, but in customer's photos, they're so short and chubby; what's up with that??

They are NOT long and slim. The pens are a little chubby and are comparable to regular fountain and gel pen lengths. They still are excellent writing tools and provide outstanding quality results.

Will a schneider topball 850 refill work with these pens?

Schneider topball 850 refill doesn't work for these pens. It is not suitable.

Will these write on transparent sticky notes?

Don’t know but I would not purchase. These are more like .8 or 1.0 wide. They are terrible!
