Bakto Flavors Golden Vanilla Cane Sugar, 1-pound Jar

I use this to flavor smoothies and I’m not joking, it must be 1/14 of a tablespoon or something tiny like that. Really- just a tiny bit and the flavor is out of this world. This is THE BEST vanilla sugar I’ve had. And yes, overdo it!

We bought this to replicate a beverage that we love from Greyhouse, a fabulous independent coffee shop in West Lafayette, IN. They serve a drink called London Fog. It is essentially an Earl Grey tea latte with a slightly sweet vanilla flavor added to it. We had great success by brewing an Earl Grey teabag in enough boiling water to cover the tea bag and letting it steep for 4-5 minutes. Squeeze as much of the liquid out of the tea bag before you discard it. Add 12-16 oz of hot milk to the concentrated tea and sweeten with up to a teaspoon of vanilla sugar. You'll be hooked! Bakto sugar is a golden sugar and it is heavily infused with flecks of actual vanilla bean. The black flecks can look slightly off-putting floating in your beverage, but the flavor is worth it. We also tried Hula Girl brand. It is a white sugar without the vanilla bean flecks. Hula Girl comes in a plastic jar and it appears to be regular sugar with a couple of vanilla bean pods submersed in the sugar which is something I'm going to try on my own. It may be a really cost effective way to achieve our goal. Hula Girl is good although I think the vanilla flavor isn't as strong as Bakto. Perhaps four pods would be perfect.

I really like this. Where it contains actual ground vanilla beans, it's not going to just "disappear" into your drink or dessert, so it's perfect for adding a bit of vanilla bean "authenticity" to a creme, pudding or baked goods. While it's not as concentrated as a vanilla bean paste, the vanilla flavor is substantial and feels balanced. Consider that because it is actual vanilla bean, it benefits greatly from a little time to "steep" to infuse flavor. I like to give it a few minutes in hot water or milk before blending into beverages. While it won't infuse as much flavor just sprinkled on top, I love to add it to muffins before baking to add some visual texture and a heady vanilla fragrance.

Not the best but a good choice for vanilla sugar. Bakes up perfectly with good vanilla flavor. My usual go to is Heilala vanilla sugar but it is just too expensive.

Goes well with everything that calls for vanilla in it. Since it's vanilla infused sugar, I have to keep in mind to decrease the sugar in the recipe (maybe that's just me), but I love the flavor of it. Seems to be not as "aggressive" as the vanilla extracts, and allows other flavors to shine.

I love, love, love these Bakto vanilla sugars. I started mixing these, half and half, in my homemade vanilla ice cream and all my family and friends go nuts. I have to make double and triple batches of ice cream for special events. I only use it in my homemade ice cream because I don't eat sweets otherwise; but I am going to try it when I do make a batch of cookies next time. This has become a regular item I keep stored in my food pantry.

This is truly wonderful and I've bought this over and over. I use a coffee bean grinder to mill to a superfine sugar and sprinkle on fruit for added pop. I also put a dash on top of whipped cream topping for coffee for pop. The uses for this are endless. Try this instead of sugar to push the taste over-the-top for yum.

Easy to sprinkle and they melt well, mild vanilla flavor. Lightly crunchy and not overpowering.
