Excellent backing adhesion and hood deadener heat shield insulation 236mil 4x6 (16sqft)
My 2000 Toyota Camry LE's OEM Hood heat shield insulation/deadener started deteriorating and pieces of it being peeled off so i decided for a DIY replacement project and bought this Abahub 236mil 4x6 (16sqft - measured first the size of my OEM Hood heat shield as there comes options in sizes). The package came at a very good condition nicely packed inside a plastic and rolled. I inspected the product as there were some reviews about damage/ripped aluminum foil and I am glad mine came in without a damage. Carefully unroll the sheet on a flat surface ( i used my garage floor) and gently flatten the surface (aluminum side facing the ground to prevent damage) and once evenly flat, flip the sheet aluminum now facing up and let it rest and prep for cutting to size matching the OEM from the car. I used sharpie pen to mark the holes and exact size to cut and I just used a medium size office scissor (very easy cut) don't use box cutter it would create a tear to the insulation padding and rip off the aluminum if dragged. There were 11 spots i marked for the location of the round push in clips (when i removed the 11 clips all of them broke and no longer usable but i always keep many clip parts for my vehicles). I was only able to get 4 out of 11 push clips to match the holes when i applied the insulation to the hood (not to worry, the backing adhesive will do the job to hold it together. OEM does not have backing adhesive, it was hold in place by the 11 push clips to the hood) I started from the top which matches the exact location of the top 3 holes allowing me to work without an extra pair of hands. I didn't push the new round clips just halfway and enough to hold the insulation sheet allowing me to access and gently peel off the backing adhesive cover to expose the adhesive part of the sheet. Worked my way from top slowly applying pressure to stick to the hood back surface and making sure the insulation sticks to the surface making sure there is no gap/air. Tip: if during the install, you accidentally damage or rip off a part of the aluminum heat shield, you can simply patch it with an industrial grade aluminum tape (commonly used in HVAC install/repairs). Ultimately, this product can be to cut to size, easy to install with enough thickness and insulation for heat and reducing engine sound/noise when driving the vehicle. I highly recommend, this product won't disappoint you.

Works wonders with dampening loud sounds
I bought this to help lessen the noise of my Onan cummins Rv generator in a 1988 Vandura Conquest RV. Originally I planned to use this for the heat shield under the hood, but I liked how thick and light weight it was and figured I'd try it for my generator. This stuff is awesome! It cut the noise of the generator by at least half. It is very easy to work with and sticks very well to the metal frame around my generator. Definitely out preformed the Amazon basics auto sound deadening I had already tried in there. The only thing is that you have to be very careful when removing the paper backing otherwise you could pull some of the adhesive off with it. I highly recommend it and will definitely be ordering more.

This does help for sound reduction and heat shielding to some degree.
I've used this on a UTV to help with sound reduction and it does work but it's just a step in the right direction. Using it inside a van conversion to cover the wheel wells and it works for that to. It seems to hold up under the heat as well.

Worked exactly as expected
This product did exactly what I wanted it to do. I used it to make a new under hood heat shield that wasnโt as tasty and useful to varmints since the OEM Honda one was made from a nice nesting material. Hopefully foil and rubber will do the trick. Size was just slightly longer than ordered, which was great because I needed 58โ and it left me plenty to make my cutout. I do wish I bought a thicker one although I donโt know if it would really help more. It was easy to cut with ordinary scissors but a thicker one might require a sharp utility knife or high quality scissors. I had no issues with the foil tearing. I also used aluminum HVAC tape in certain areas and could have used that to cover any tears had they been created. I stretched the material out after unrolling it and before tracing and cutting. Material might hold up to a lighter but did not take long to engulf when using a torch (see video). The adhesive is good, but I wouldnโt use that alone to hold it in the application I used it for. I bought some oversized retention clips and between the adhesive and the clips I feel comfortable it will stay put.

Excellent product!
Worked well to replace the old insulation eaten by a squirrel who wintered in the hood of the car! Used in a 2010 Chevy Impala. It was easy to trace, cut , and the installation went well. I suggest taking off just the center backing first, and put in those pegs; then take off one side at a time to make,m sure everything is aligned correctly. It's a good product and I highly recommend this!

Incredible improvement over OEM heat shield
Used this to replace under hood factory heat shield on a turbocharged/tuned VW engine. OEM heat shield did the job(i thought) but was corroding and sagging. After a moderate drive the hood would be very warm to the touch. After driving hard in the sun with this new reflective heat shield, the hood remains cool to the touch. I was speechless at the difference such a thin layer could make. Very easy to cut with a utility knife and was plenty big for my application. Highly recommend a proper cleaning of the surface you wish to protect with soap then isopropyl alc. I would not trust the self-adhesive to stay in place, use a couple layers of 3M sprayable/heat resistant adhesive on surface before applying and it will stick like a charm! I noticed zero change in engine noise, although road noise may have effected. Highly recommend!

Very Thin - Easy to Poke a Hole In
Not sure what I was expecting, but the foil covering is very, very thin. Like, aluminum foil thin. Was hoping for something a little thicker and tougher for an engine compartment application. I used it, but I'm sure I'll be replacing it within a year.

Works well
It is easy to manage when installing even without a heat gun. Sticks easily. It was on a discount when I bought it and I can say good value for the price.

Works great
I pulled the interior of my Miata last winter & used this sound deadner throughout before the carpets were re-installed. You might think putting this stuff in a convertible is a waste of time but it's actually surprising how much road noise is diminished up to about 80km/h. There's also the heat shield aspect which is important for the tunnel area of a Miata where the transmission sits. It gets pretty warm so this heat shield also does a good job of helping with cooler temperatures in the cockpit. Good purchase, good price.
