Comes with external power cable, which you'll need for a Macbook Pro
I bought this to connect my Macbook Pro to a Dell VGA LCD display. The adapter comes with a USB power cable and an audio cable. I didn't realize it at first, but the power cable is a great feature of this adapter because some HDMI equipment (like my Macbook) doesn't provide the voltage necessary to power the active circuitry in the adapter. That circuitry is needed to convert digital HDMI signals to analog VGA. As I did not appreciate this important fact, I was surprised when the display did not work with the Macbook. I then tried using the adapter to connect the HDMI output on an XBOX to the Dell display and that did work. Ignorantly thinking there was something wrong with the adapter, I posted a review to that effect and was immediately contacted by the manufacturer, VicTsing, instructing me to just use the USB power cable on the Macbook. Sure enough, that worked great! A little research (which I should have done before posting my first review) indicated that external power is indeed required for converting HDMI to VGA on a Macbook Pro. My research also revealed that a better choice for a Macbook Pro would be a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, which does not require external power. I'm impressed that the manufacturer reached out to me to solve my problem. If I decide to get a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, I'll look for one by VicTsing.

Converts HDMI to VGA with audio out and power
We purchased a new computer for church projection to a projector that only has VGA input. This adapter plugs into the HDMI port on the computer and then I plug the VGA cord that goes to the projector into the other end of the adapter.A second feature this adapter has that is important for our use is the audio out plug. HDMI carries (kidnaps) the audio; meaning that you can't use the headphone jack on the computer while this adapter is plugged into the HDMI port. Therefore, the audio out jack on the adapter allows you to separate the sound from the analog VGA.A final feature of this adapter is the micro-usb power plug. Without it, MacBook computers do not put out enough signal to project through the long VGA cord (75-90 Feet). Plugging in power to this adapter allows MacBooks to project without screen distortion.

Gamers GET THIS PRODUCT!!!
I am so in love with this product. It works well with my PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PlayStation TV. I now have a way to game without disturbing other people!Very easy and simple to set up. All you really need is a USB wall adapter for the external power source. That can easily be purchased as well on Amazon. I didn't really even have to change settings on any of my consoles when I set this up. I also have YouTube videos up on my channel of me using this product. I cannot be more happier with this product!Unlike other similar products, this one has an active connection and an option for external power source. When buying other products that are similar I didn't know that the PS4 and Xbox One needed to have an external power source. Also a huge bonus is that this one is HDCP compliant so it will work with the PlayStation TV!You can have audio connections to a pair of speakers, any PC type really, via the aux port on it.The only thing I would advise with this product is not to let it get hot or just leave it plugged into the console if you are not using it actively. I have bough other products similar to this one and they stopped working after a while.Check it out on my YouTube channel to see them working. I can't link them in the review. The username would be: psxrpgqueen. Look in my Tech Tutorials playlists to see this being used.

All functions work great, with stable picture in Win7!
I got this because I have a Lenovo ThinkPad with an HDMI output and an Espon PowerLite projector without an HDMI input. I could just use the VGA output on the ThinkPad, but I like having both options available. (I also carry a VGA to HDMI adapter from the same manufacturer.) This unit works very well and works fine to operate an extended display in Win7. There's no jitter and I can select among several different resolutions. I haven't tried to see if it works without using the USB power cable, but I don't really care if it does or not. The audio output can be played through the projector speaker (which is pretty minimal) or connected to much nicer speakers (like a JBL unit). For the price, this can't be beat!

Works great
I wanted this adapter to connect a newer notebook PC to an older (at least 15 years old) Dell 17" flat panel VGA monitor that still work as a 2nd display. The notebook PC of course only has a HDMI connector and USB ports. The hook-up was easy and the notebook recognized the monitor immediately. But there was an issue with what Windows 10 selected as the default resolution and what showed on the display. Windows 10 selected the highest resolution the notebook graphics card allowed and also the "edges" of what should have displayed were missing. Obviously this was not useful. So the first thing I did was to change the resolution to what the display considered optimum, which is 1280x1024. That fixed the issue with the missing "edges", but then the displayed image was not maximized to the actual screen area leaving about 4 inches of the horizontal unused. The monitor has no way to "stretch" the display image and Windows 10 had no options to fix this issue. But the notebook's Radeon graphics card actual software (Radeon Settings) has many options. The first option that I looked at was turning on virtual resolution and that fixed the issue immediately, nothing more required. There could be more options for resolution settings on the display, but for what I wanted this works perfectly.
