Buyers Products DH304 Aluminum Door Hold Back, 4 Inch Hook and Keeper

Bought a pair to hold open my utility shed doors and they work great. They are pretty precise in terms of alignment so be sure you have them placed properly before mounting them. But they are inexpensive for what you get and much nicer than the wire-style or plastic latches that are sometimes used on trailers. They also have an anti-rattle design which is nice for trailers where the wind will bounce others around when underway. When I refurb my two Haulmark trailers I'll replace the cheap plastic OEM latches with these. They also feature a much more secure latching mechanism than the wire or plastic "ball" latches. You can be sure these won't come unlatched accidentally, yet they can still be undone one-handed. As with most items offered by this brand, really well designed.

Others are shaped like a "T" and many of them don't have a slight bend in them to meet the open door just right, they just stick straight out. Some that have the bend, still don't meet the door properly and are hard to disengage. This one, made from Aluminum doesn't need a specific angle between door and latch, it centers on a rounded catch and snaps (locks?) into place to hold the door open. I Like this one because it's strong, doesn't have an angle to match up and it's aluminum so it won't rust like the others. I'm still working on a one handed latch release though but with practice it will come..

These work great for the application that I need them for. As described, on time, made with pot metal, so quality is a little less then desired, but giving 5 stars for after a month or two, still no issues.

Works well so far. No experience yet with holding the door open in windy conditions, but it should be better than the plastic ball catch that originally came on the trailer.

This DH304 Aluminum Door Hold Back 4" hook is rugged, easy to install and use. It is simplistic, locks easy and detaches easy. Its attractive also. It is unlikely to disengage by its self.

This door hold back is built tough! The heavy‑duty aluminum feels solid and durable, and the spring mechanism works smoothly every time. Easy to install and holds my door securely in place. Highly recommended!

We bought these to hold our shed doors open. We're on our second season and the hinge pin, the latching mechanism, and the finish are all holding up well. No rust. They've held up to some high winds without incident. Only thing I'd mention is you might need two hands to latch or unlatch them if your door is catching a stiff breeze when you go to operate them. Wouldn't stop me from buying more of them.

These are serious hold backs that should last forever. Using them on heavy gates and shed doors that were blowing in the wind. No more. Don’t come with screws because they have no idea what surface you are mounting them on. Just make sure you align them accurately before marking the holes. Recommended.
