Does it need to be sharpened when received or is it already sharpened?

Not terribly sharp as received, but useful for some kinds of "chopping". Depends on what you are whacking...........

Is the blade stainless steel??

I don’t think so. It’s black, not a stainless steel color.

I got the tool in April; using it occassionaly. I went to use it recently and the whole claw portion broke off! Was it just mine that's faulty?
