First off, my order arrived damaged and one of the bars was exposed, I reached out to the seller and they immediately refunded me so kudos to them for good customer service. As far as the bars go, they are actually pretty tasty and definitely filling. I bought them for my bug out bag and it's good to know I have at least a bit of food in case I ever need it. The bars are substantial but they don't take up too much space in my bag which is a win in my opinion.

I decided to try this bar out for a couple of days at work. We had a project going on that really didn't lend itself to being overly cooperative with lunch breaks. I also had to go in early to work during this time, so I decided to use these to replace both my breakfast and my lunch. They are exactly what they claim to be. Emergency rations. As in, eat in case of emergency, not as a meal replacement. They tasted vaguely like sugar cookie dough that had dried out a little. I got no hint of lemon flavor, so I can see why some say it didn't even bear mentioning. As someone who likes to eat, I had to make myself eat these bars, as they didn't really check off any of the boxes for what I consider "food". After eating the first bar of the morning, I notice that I am not thirsty, nor hungry. My stomach has stopped growling, and is sending signals up to my brain stating that it was sorry for being so needy earlier, and it now looks forward to bread and water...Please? That "not hungry" feeling stayed with me for approximately 4-5 hours, when I would then open up a second bar. ( I had separated them into individual ziplocs.) I would then ingest the second bar, and my brain would then ask me what it had done to deserve this when there is a snack machine right down the hall... This would keep me "not hungry" until supper time, which then could have consisted of leaves and branches and I would have downed it hungrily. All humor aside, these are emergency food rations. They aren't meant to taste great, and satisfy cravings, they are meant to provide basic sustenance to keep you alive. And for the 4 days I ate these, they worked very well. I was not hungry after eating them, I didn't feel run down, they didn't produce any stomach issues, and I didn't have to drink a ton of water to wash them down. They also had a side effect of making me appreciate the food I have at home a lot more than I used to. So, all in all, solid product. I will be buying more for an emergency roadside kit, and another kit for hunting/camping.

Great for emergencies.

I was a bit hesitant to try these out as i am a bit picky when it comes to food. However, in an emergency, these are a fantastic choice. I am giving 5 stars, although the bars where not vacuum sealed when they arrived, we planned on trying them out before ordering a bunch anyways so this was not an issue for us. Also, i checked the reviews before i ordered, so i knew this was a possibility. The flavor is pretty good. You can taste a hint of lemon. Thr bar tastes like pie crust with a dash of lemon flavor. It has some harder, crunchier pieces inside that taste like sugar clumps. There is almost like a Crisco grease residue when you first take a bite. But like i said, its a lot like a crumbly version of pie crust. My husband and 11 year old like the flavor. So if you are buying for an emergency situation, and have children, i would definitely get a few.

They are individually wrapped, which is nice. They taste like a grainy, kinda gritty shortbread cookie. Not terrible, not impressive. Just meh. But in a survival setting, the taste would obviously be almost irrelevant. I do like how they don't make me thirsty. I could munch on one and not get the urge to chase it with water. What I'm somewhat disappointed about is the fact that the individual wrappings for 6 out of the 9 bars was unsealed....or like the strength of the wrappers at their seams were weak. The moment I lifted the flap of a wrapper(not to open it, just gently lifting it), it's like it gave up on its job. I was left with a gaping hole in the wrapper. And that happened 6 times....So the second I opened the protective pouch, I had to eat what I could and deal with the rest. But other that the weak wrappers, the bars are good.

I teach in "bush" Alaska, and am always looking for emergency rations to take with me hunting, ice fishing, etc. This year I'm in the Aleutians and we get very high winds and no-fly conditions for a week or more at a time. The only things flying then are the angels and the coast guard, which is for most purposes the same thing. I carry granola bars (good), Sailor boy pilot bread (the Alaska staple) and peanut butter (good but crackers are stale tasting unless toasted). Canned food and MREs are heavy, and MRE's are expensive. I just weighed 3 MREs that range from 18 ounces to 22 ounces, and are about 1200 calories each. This 3600 calorie bar weighed just over 24 ounces, far less than the 3 MREs required for the same number of calories. Survival situations in Alaska often require a lot of calories, as people tend to be wet and cold. This is a very low cost way to carry good tasting concentrated calories. I bought some of these bars and one of the three I ordered must have had a hole in it as it lost the vacuum seal. This became the one I taste tested. My wife, 2 children, and I all liked the bars, I thought they tasted like a vanilla wafer cookie, but with more of a lemon flavor than vanilla. My wife used to be a girl scout and says they taste like the lemon trefoil (shortbread) cookie. The lemon flavor is not strong, and these were sweetish, but not sweet enough to make me thirsty. I'm going to try a couple of days on these but I'm very impressed with the price and taste so far. It's pretty hard to get a day's worth of long-term storable portable food for this price.

I ordered one pack to try it out before I stock up and sadly the first one arrived open. It wasn't torn or cut but the seal was opened on one of the corners which tells me they have a problem with how they seal they're packages. Even if it wasn't done while at they're warehouse it means that these don't travel well so if I needed to travel with more than one I would run the risk of these opening up and possibly going bad before arriving to my destination. I'm having another one delivered tomorrow to taste it as I did not want to try one that was already opened since I do not know who, how or where it was opened. I can say that it smelled like sugar cookies and I like the ingredients as well as the amount that comes in one pack. If the next one arrives properly sealed and I can try it without worrying about when it was opened I might possibly order more but I'm still worried about them arriving damaged. It cost me time and money to go drop them off to get returned and these aren't exactly cheap. If I have too I will find a replacement but I hope I don't have too. Alright so I'm adding after receiving the replacement and it arrived open as well. Looks like I'm going to go with another company. I really didn't want too but if you can't get me one single product to my home intact I don't feel comfortable making large orders.
